Chris Parry of the Vancouver Sun recently wrote an article about a bunch of nasty comments posted about Obamas daughter Malia on Free Republic:
A typical street whore. A bunch of ghetto thugs. Ghetto street trash. Wonder when she will get her first abortion. Could you imagine what world leaders must be thinking seeing this kind of street trash and that we paid for this kind of street ghetto trash to go over there? wrote one commenter.
blah, blah, blah snipped
Those comments are pretty stupid. As much as I dislike Obama and his policies and his lack of honest with the public, and as much as I think hes taking this country in the absolute wrong direction, his family doesnt deserve comments like this. And such comments certainly arent productive, politically. People who might have been swayed by arguments focusing on Obamas policies are just going to be turned off by such nonsense.
And besides, FreeRepublic.com isnt alone in having comments like this. They happen at any blog with open comments liberal, conservative or otherwise. Im sure I could troll through the comments at Daily Kos, for instance, and come up with no small amount of mean-spirited and hateful invective aimed at the Bush family, including the twins Jenna and Barbara. Cherry-picking a few threads of comments and using those comments to smear an entire website and/or group of people is a silly game serious political commentators should stop playing.

I dont know if some or all of the FreeRepublic comments were, in fact, staged by Parry or others but certainly this undermines Parrys credibility.

They ranged from a few months to a few years old. Doubt they were plants unless long-term sleepers. But most of the statements I saw were really referring to the parents, as in how could America’s First family dress their children (and the cousin) that way on an Official International Mission? The Daily Mail (UK) published and captioned the pictures not us. Didn’t see any explicit racism unless you think that criticizing the way parents dress their children is racist. But we pulled the thread because there’s no need to copycat the Democrats, DailyKos, HuffPost, the MSM, et al, in their really overboard and offensive treatment of Sarah Palin and her children. They should back off or at least not whine about receiving the same. I have nothing but contempt for the Marxist hypocrites.
Don’t feel bad about getting the banhammer on IRC. That’s par for the course in those parts.
Ping.
We be talkin’ boucha...
I’m amazed we didn’t get 18 cazillion zots that day.
Someone posted they think he is just a stringer.
What is a “stringer”?
He posted again today. Tried to claim that all the bad stuff he has said was in his past and he’s moved on. We pointed out that his Palin screeds were recent. He then said that he had to get back to work. :-)
someone who writes stories on contract.. ie, someone who writes a bunch of stories and then submits them to the paper, who buys what they want. He isn’t an actual employee.
I think he knows he’s not in Kansas anymore.
Yeah. Freepers didn’t let him get away with anything.
A stringer is a reporter who is not a full-time employee of a newspaper who provides occasional stories or photographs, and whose stories nevertheless run with the paper’s byline. They are employed sometimes on retainer and sometimes on a per-piece or per-word basis.
Okay, I do not have my saved website shots, but this critter claimed to be the Editor of the Entertainment section of the Vancouver Sun.
This site is going to receive a lot of similar attacks in the future.
I strongly recommend a waiting period (perhaps a week?)between the sign-up date and the time at which one can begin replying. This should eliminate the majority of the trolls.

Perhaps each thread should have a running “experience” factor (perhaps the average of the posts or replies of the participants in a thread). If a thread has a low experience factor then an Admin could be notified to monitor the thread.
Why are his articles still on the VS website?
I know one thread on here yesterday was discussing the picture with Malia in her peace t-shirt. There were a lot of comments in that thread directed at the guy who was next to her in the picture and he looked like a bum. A lot of those comments went along the lines of what was said in your post above. I wonder if he is taking some of the comments directed at the bum next to her and attributing it to comments directed at her?

YES he is. I’m not saying that some were not directed at the her t-shirt and the meaning to many veterans, but it was the picture of her with 17 year old that drew most responses and I don’t care who you are, if you think that was appropriate dress for a visit to Rome ............
I still haven’t seen the one of the main things that was addressed answered. WHY DOES HALF OF MO’s family tag along on every, single trip they take? If we have to pay for her to take the entire family, we damn well have a right to expect them to dress nicely. The obama’s need to get it through their head that they work for us.... WE THE PEOPLE.... we don’t work for them. We aren’t giving up a piece of our pie for them to invite their entire family for freebie vacations.
Why? The left isn’t censored. Besides, other freepers turn in questionable posts. As was the case in this instance.
I still believe they were trolls and/or planted.
But hey, the Obama posse was not looking very classy on that trip.
True story.
Chris Parry will probably be a celebrity any minute now on Wikipedia and hailed as a hero.
