I strongly recommend a waiting period (perhaps a week?)between the sign-up date and the time at which one can begin replying. This should eliminate the majority of the trolls.

Perhaps each thread should have a running “experience” factor (perhaps the average of the posts or replies of the participants in a thread). If a thread has a low experience factor then an Admin could be notified to monitor the thread.
Why? The left isn’t censored. Besides, other freepers turn in questionable posts. As was the case in this instance.
This was discussed. However, not every sock puppet is a newbie. I have run my cursor over suspicious posters and found a lot of seniority. Then I check their posting histories, and find huge gaps, sometimes even years' worth.
I suggested, even under the possibility of being called paranoid, that we have "sleeper cells" of registered posters ready to cause mischief. We know the Progressives have billionaires financing them.
They can afford to hire pathetic bed-wetting losers like Parry to "work"--
And a mod joined in that discussion to say that some old accounts had been hacked in the past.
The main thing, we'll have to get over the dislike of being a "tattletale" and start hitting the abuse button quicker.
I'd like to suggest, personally, that we avoid posting photographs of Obama's daughters. Graphics can galvanize bad actors better than words.
I think a better idea than a weeks waiting period is to set it to say the first 20 posts are moderated. That way if you see someone posting nasty things over and over you can zot them before they cause any damage. Just don’t tell them how many posts are moderated so they can’t play the system. :) This keeps sleepers under mosderation so they can’t create an account and come back to use it a year later. This is what I do with new member on my yahoo sewing group, there are a lot of idiots out there who live to cause trouble!
