Out of Alaska - Palin on why she resigned and what it means for her future (golden quotes)
The Weekly Standard ^ | July 20, 2009 | Matthew Continetti

In early July, while most Americans were preparing for a long weekend of celebratory parades, charred meats, and noisy fireworks, Sarah Palin made some plans of her own. The Alaska governor had been the object of endless media attention and assorted calumnies since she became John McCain's vice presidential nominee last August. Now she wanted to try something new. So, on July 3, in a speech delivered from her home on Lake Lucille in Wasilla, Palin told her constituents that not only would she not seek a second term, but she would also be transferring authority to Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell on July 26, abdicating her office with about 18 months left to go. The announcement, as one might expect, received global press coverage, dominated the weekend headlines, and gave stories about the late Michael Jackson a run for their money. Meantime, the political world went into sustained convulsions.

The fierce reaction surprised Palin. She is acutely aware of what the media and her opponents say about her. She heard some people say that the timing of her speech was odd. Not so. "Independence Day is so significant to me--it's sort of a way for me to illustrate that I want freedom for Alaskans to progress, and for me personally," she told me during a telephone interview on July 9. Others said the motivation for her resignation was not clear. "I'm like, 'Holy Jeez, I spoke for 20 minutes' " giving reasons, she said. Bloggers conjectured that a horrible scandal was looming over her. Nope. Palin says she even heard a rumor that she resigned because pornographic pictures of her were about to hit the Internet. This left her bemused. "Between which pregnancies did I get to pose for those?" she said sarcastically.

Sarah has initiated a brilliant flanking manuever and counter attack against the left,

Good analysis, Jeff. This girl's gone hunting before and, as prey in the media's sights, she's stepped out-of-sight which should make them very nervous.

The grizzly analogy is a good one. A wounded grizzly is even better. :^)

And how wounded might she be? Let's start with some McCain folks doing some backstabbing. Followed by Letterman(ure) taking pot shots at her and her children. Followed by a sleazy magazine article, followed by untold numbers of suppos-ed conservatives questioning the motives behind her resignation, all on top of unabating ethics charges proven false.

Any hunter of dangerous game will tell you how wounding an animal changes everything. In an instant, you can become "the hunted".

The MSM, the Left, and others have taken their 'shots' and missed. If Sarah has been wounded, she'll take time to heal and likely return when it's to her advantage. Perhaps her biggest wound came when America elected a Marxist Radical Street Thug over what she had envisioned for this country. The rest are mere flesh wounds.

The Left has been poaching conservtives for quite a while. They bagged a Quayle. Conveniently borked Bork. Justice Thomas barely made it by the skin of his, well, skin. They actually put a bullet in Ronald Reagan.

These poachers are bent on obliterating conservatives. They hunt from a train and slaughter any 'game' that dares share their 'space'. Youngin's are fair game too, apparently.

Given that we're faced with annihilation in this contest with sadists of every stripe, color, and cable channel, we need to consider our response very carefully. We need to solicit the support of the bushmen who know the importance of balance and harmony in the greater scheme of Nature's plan. Once out of balance, there's no going back and much death will result. Nature doesn't screw around, she kills until equilibrium (balance) is re-established. (Once conservatives are gone, she'll start killing liberals by the millions 'cause she has to. Gots your thing on?).

By 'bushmen', I refer to all of us little people with a spear (money). We will have to pony-up for those who are truly worthy of support as conservatives. We have to work to prevent the extinction of conservatives as a species.

A true conservative is easily recognized: they'll rise against everything the Left stands for (making themselves a target, but..) and we should be behind them every step of the way with our spears (money).

Look, the Left owns education and higher learning, they own the media, they have control over 2/3 of our government. They're running two major car manufacturers, are big on Wall Street, want to dictate medical care and how much energy it takes to run your home (while promoting windmills and solar-wtf?).

The gist is that we have about one last big battle left before Mother Nature kicks in. If we can't gain some ground and must raise the white flag, sure, we'll get creamed, but the adherents of the Left will suffer a much worse fate. She'll drop the hammer on them like never seen before- might even be a nuclear exchange, who knows. I say F'em. Serves 'em right.

“Palin’s unconventionality and authenticity is the key to her appeal.”

I agree with you, Sarah will be one of the forces that moves the conversation to discuss where this country is headed. She has the appeal to get good candidates into the House (and Senate) during the 2010 cycle.

She can build her base and IOU’s such that she can shoot for POTUS in 2012, play second banana or even wait until 2016. She has time on her side now if she can get the GOP on her side and off her back.

As a single man, I wish there were more Sarah Palins in the world. That’s a good picture.

Peggy Noonan, Frum, assorted alleged “conservative” writers, local talk show folk...

I have really had it with the arrogance on the left as well as by these “conservatives”.

President Obama, call off your attack dogs!

He can't, they are not his dogs, he is theirs.
