Leaving for the day so I won’t be able to respond until later.

I’ve been fairly non-committal about Palin, waiting to see what she does in the aftermath of resigning the governorship. It appears that she MAY be trying to rebuild the winning Reagan coalition in much the same way Reagan built it to begin with. IF so, I may become much more energetically engaged on her behalf.

Let's see, Sarah stands for:

Limited Government

Strong National Defense

Energy Independence

I guess all the large crowds she attracts are just because those of us who believe in what she believes in are just a bunch of mindless Palinbots.

We all loved Sarah.

YOU were never even close to being a Palin supporter, so cut the BS, Bob.

Why does supporting what Sarah does become “Sarah Worship”? The very phrase is insulting. If she does something that isn’t defensible then we won’t defend her; but, for now, she’s been doing a good job. And, unlike some Freepers, several of us won’t kill and eat our own simply because of minor disagreements. She’s the best the GOP has right now, and many of us are supporting the person - not the party.

First thought that comes to mind is that one believes in American Exceptualism and the other one does not.

I actually don’t think her resignation has “taken her out of the presidential ball game” or is necessarily a “deal breaker,” though I do think it was a questionable move. Look at my posts in Sarah threads over the past week and you’ll see that I’ve actually pretty much never attacked or criticized Palin herself, I’ve only criticized the fanatical attitude of some of her supporters and urged caution. But for the Sarahbots here, anything less than total devotion - skepticism, indifference, a wait-and-see view - is unacceptable. You are either with them or against them.

Sarah is not a black supremacy racist. Sarah is not a Muslim. Sara is a believer in the order of our forefathers not a Marxist.

The difference is that Obama’s leftist followers want to believe he’s lying when he says things to attract voters and Sarah Palin’s followers expect her to be telling the truth about who she really is.

Folks, if you can provide a list to me of five Democrats who vote with Republicans even 33% of the time, I’ll be very surprised.

They would have to vote with us at least double that rate before I would even want them in the party.

Anyone who is voting against you 33% of the time, is killing you. Generally that 33% of the time is when you really need them, and by golly off they go on principle, submarining defense spending, cutting our legs off on some globalony issue or another.

What’s left in the Democrat part of Congress, is not your Ronald Reagan Democrat. The elected people in his day probably weren’t either.

He sought out registered Democrats who agreed with his fiscal and defense policy. He didn’t go help get leftists more positions in Congress against Republicans.

It’s bad enough having Republicans who won’t support you. If anything we want to get rid of them.

The difference between Palin supporters and Obama supporters is one of ideas.

Palin champions ideas we at FR tend agree with (limited government, observance of Constitution’s limits, pro-family, anti-abortion, individual rights, religion, taking responsibility for one’s actions). Obama champions the idea that there are no such limits on government’s power, and that the president is free to run roughshod over the Constitution, as long as polls support him.

So, by saying Palin and Obama supporters are alike, you are saying that two different populations in the country seek, and have found, a charistmatic, articulate spokesperson for their values. True enough.

I’ll admit that I’m a huge Palin fan, but I also appreciate some people giving constructive criticism. We all know that the MSM will try to take her out, but if we can discuss actions and words in a civilized manner, we will be able to counter libs.

Dude.. if you barely hint that you are not on the "Saint Sarah" bandwagon
you get dogpiled and cussed and called vile names and invited to go to hell.

It sounds a lot like the way Obama supporters acted during the election.

I don’t worship Palin.
I would drop my support for her like a rock, if I saw that she really wasn’t a conservative.

I am excited and energized by her, or anyone; that I see as capable of leading our nation back to the principals it was founded on.
Some of those principals being; individual freedom from government oppression, freedom to have self determination, economic freedom, religious freedom, freedom from government, a market based economy, etc...

Those principals excite me much more than any candidate or political party.
The Founding Fathers had it right. They knew what was important. Most people today do not. The Founders would make much better leaders today (if it were possible to magically bring them here from 200+ years ago) than 99.99% of Americans. Probably even better than Sarah Palin.

I'm so glad we have people like you here on FR...people who can tell us when we're thinking badly.

I mean, I must confess that I was falling for all this Palin stuff of God, Country, Principles, morals, and responsibility; luckily BobJ, you came along and schooled me in the error of my ways.

Why didn't I see that she had only been a City Mayor and Governor of the state of Alaska. Why, that's can't even hold a candle to "community organizer" and Jr. senator who's most famous for voting "Present".

How stupid of me not to see that Palin promoted legislation that gave voters money back to them; didn't she know that she could push "stimulus" bills and make billions for the government, and make the voters pay it back for the next 3 generations?

I don't know what got into me; it must have been the Kool Aid, as we all know that obama is the epitome of honesty and intelligence and Palin...we she was only a beauty queen.

The entire FR board should join hands and sing "Cum Bah Ya" for BobJ for solving the delimma of who to vote for in the future. He obviously knows that obama is the symbol for integrity and honesty, and that Palin is really the baby's grandmother, and Letterman has the secret hots for her 14-year-old daughter.

Good luck with that thinking, BobJ...It's hard to believe you've been around here as long as you have and haven't clued us all in before...it must be a reading comprehension thing.
