Palin to stump for conservative Democrats [will back conservatives regardless of party affiliation]

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Brushing aside the criticisms of pundits and politicos, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she plans to jump immediately back into the national political fray — stumping for conservative issues and even Democrats — after she prematurely vacates her elected post at month's end.

The former Republican vice-presidential nominee and heroine to much of the GOP's base said in an interview she views the electorate as embattled and fatigued by nonstop partisanship, and she is eager to campaign for Republicans, independents and even Democrats who share her values on limited government, strong defense and "energy independence."

"I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation," she said over lunch in her downtown office, 40 miles from her now-famous hometown of Wasilla — population 7,000 — where she began her political career.

"People are so tired of the partisan stuff — even my own son is not a Republican," said Mrs. Palin, who stunned the political world earlier this month with her decision to step down as governor July 26 with 18 months left in her term.

Both her son, Track, 20, an enlisted soldier serving in Iraq, and her husband, Todd, are registered as "nonpartisan" in Alaska.

Once, I thought I’d have never liked a Democrat, but Zell Miller changed by mind. Mind you, there are a damn sight too few of those Democrats like him.

The party lines have been so blurred that I'm fine with what Sarah is doing because I believe that only conservatism is going to save US of A.

Good for her! Screw the pompous asses who think they need to turn the RNC into Democrap-Lite. If there’s a good DEM, fine, better than a RINO who’s stretched his arm out of joint “reaching across the aisle”.

It sounds like she is going to run as an independent or third-party candidate in 2012.

"I'll take a straight shooter over a smooth talker any day"

Zell became my hero when he said that at the 2004 GOP convention.

Actually, I think there is a lot of them... but the Democratic party has been hijacked by the loony left. By the same token... the GOP has been taken over by RINOs...

The end result is that once we see what socialism really is (and hate it)... I think we will turn more to conservatism because that is what made America great...

Good. No support of RINOs.

Coming from PA I’ve had to not vote a straight Republican ticket a few times. Good luck though to Sarah in finding those conservative Democrats.

The country club R’s are really going to hate this.

I hope she runs as an independent. The people of America are tired of the two corrupt political parties that exist only to further their own power.

This is starting to make sense. Palin is definitely nonpartisan. Quite ineffective if you are a governor carrying a worn out Republican label.

I think she has a pure Reagan/take-back-the-Republican Party strategy, but she has to reposition herself to be able to draw in independents, moderates and Reagan Democrats. The Left and the party RINOs have tried to position her as a far-right zealot—just so as to turn off that share of a coalition that she and Republicans both need to win.

Until she became the #1 target of Soros, et al., she had done a masterful job of building a cross-party coalition while being a Republican. I think she will do just that again now on the national level, but she’s outflanking her opponents yet again.

Sarah is hated by the elitists in her own party. She doesn’t give a damn about party lines, she is going to support those she feels cares about this country. I doubt Sarah can find a Conservative Democrat, do they even exist? It’s like finding a needle in a haystack

Excellent. Until Reagan came along, my heart of the southland was about 80% Democrat- conservative, Southern Democrats, who supported the military, the Bill of Rights, and a few other things both parties seem to have left by the wayside. I want someone who will fight for me in DC or the state capitol- not for a pile of special interests & lobbyists.

Form a new “conservative” party. There is very little difference between todays two major parties and an alternative is needed to bring a viable change.

I most certainly hope that if she manages to get elected President that she does not fill her cabinet full of Bush retreads and goes outside the beltway and wall street.

From the article:
When a photographer prepared to take pictures of the interview, Mrs. Palin, wearing open-toed shoes, said laughingly, "Don't get my toes in the picture — they are green on the bottom."

Indeed they were. She said the marks were grass stains she had got from her mowing her lawn the previous day.

It is anecdotes like this that make folks like you and me love Sarah and the RATS hate her. Can you imagine Nancy Pelosi saying something like this? I bet Nancy hasn't mowed her lawn in at least 30 years.
