ANCHORAGE, Alaska | Brushing aside the criticisms of pundits and politicos, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she plans to jump immediately back into the national political fray stumping for conservative issues and even Democrats after she prematurely vacates her elected post at month's end.
The former Republican vice-presidential nominee and heroine to much of the GOP's base said in an interview she views the electorate as embattled and fatigued by nonstop partisanship, and she is eager to campaign for Republicans, independents and even Democrats who share her values on limited government, strong defense and "energy independence."
"I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation," she said over lunch in her downtown office, 40 miles from her now-famous hometown of Wasilla population 7,000 where she began her political career.

I am the one with the open mind about Sarah. It is certain Freepers who do not have an open mind about her.
I wonder if Governor Palin isn’t preparing for a Ross Perot-like run as a third party independent (conservative) candidate?
She is calling the supposed "conservative" Dems out.
You don't really think that any Dem will share the stage with her? The DNC at least will see to it.
She says, anyone who supports Conservatism is my friend, of course there won't be any Dems following her.
She is peeling off the "Blue dogs" voters, by calling their bluff.
True, some of us have made up our minds, we support Sarah. What’s wrong with that?
Pelosi became speaker before most outside of Alaska heard of Sarah Palin.
Sarah Palin is an option to get politics as usual out.
Exit polls from the 2008 election showed that 10% of registered Democrats voted for McCain and 9% of registered Republicans voted for Obama.
9 or 10% of the electorate can swing an election one way or the other. Obama won by 7 percentage points, 53 to 46 percent.
Sara gets it. I just hope she examines them more closely than she did McCain.
I do not for one minute believe that a significant portion of the GOP is against Sarah Palin. If that were true, why would the Iowa GOP and Senator Grassley been trying to get her here for a long time?
Do I believe there are those who do not like her? Of course, we're not all of one mind and that's ok but I see no effort to sabotage her and criticism comes from the MSM--not inside the party with the exception of a few and they're not necessarily respected anyway.
Sarah Palin is a phenomenon and anyone in Republican leadership who refuses to recognize that would be foolish. I, too, have been a fan but I am disturbed by today's events. I'll need more info.
“She lost weight....STRESS!”
Bikini season.
If she does that, she's way off my list and there is no way I would support her. Then it would be all about her and not the cause. Third party efforts are destructive. I do not believe she will do that. She's not that stupid or egotistical.
Bingo!
LOL! Wake up! A significant part of the RNC rank and file which is in Romney's drawer is actively working against her.
The beltway "moderate" establishment is sabotaging her. Just look at McCain's own campaign staff. They fear and hate her almost as much as Team Obama and the Commies.
Brilliant strategy....I know dems in my family that are disgusted with Obambi
In the general election, Nelson was endorsed by the National Rifle Association, Nebraska Right to Life [7], Nebraskans United for Life [8], the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Federation of Independent Businesses [9], Nebraska Farmers Union PAC, National Farmers Union PAC, the Veterans of Foreign Wars PAC, the Business-Industry Political Action Committee, and the Omaha Police Union, all of which are conservative-leaning groups.
your posts are ‘I, I, trust me, I know, I, I,’ yep sound just like Obama, somewhere I bet you have a teleprompter around too.
as for ‘old hand’ I was a Buckeye Conservative Republican for more than 50 years and some how he just doesn't sound like one. and since Obama is great at planting plants I believe you two belong to him.
Just my personal opinion, trust me!!!!
Why is this guy a Democrat??
Ok so a few of them see her star power and want her to come. Have you been watching TV. When they have a discussion about Sarah Palin on Fox News or whatever network, it is the so-called Republicans who bash her more then the Democrats do. Did you read the recent statement from Chris Christie from New Jersey, he said that Sarah should stay home and not come to New Jersey to campaign for him. I also believe the McConnell or whatever his name is from Virginia has said the same thing, yeah that’s support from the big wigs in Washington. Some in the GOP adore her, but the vast majority of the elitists hate her. Peggy Noonan, she worked for Reagan right, she hates her guts. Must I name more, I have all day.
Secondly, your assuming that she will really stump for any Democrat, if she does I will eat my shoe Ok. No Democrat is gonna call Sarah Palin and say “come on down, come to one of my rallies and oh yeah, please don’t say anything bad about Obama” HaHa. Come on, let’s get real here, she was making a statement to wake up the GOP, she also mentioned stumping for Independents, Independents can go either way, they can vote Dem or vote Republican, don’t see that outrage there. She thinks outside the box, she will support whoever supports her views, she can give a rats behind about party. What party, the same party that says that she cost McCain the election, why the hell would she support a party that has dragged her name through the mud. Not saying all of them, but just saying that Iowa is for her doesn’t mean anything. The GOP has been in the Democratic tank for a long time now. Just look at them, other then a select few, they are all praising Obama
The only ones I know of are McCain’s inside staff. That’s to be expected. That’s ok. I didn’t like McCain either and I worked against him.
