Keith Olberman is greatly saddened at the results.

How so? What am I missing? It seemed perfectly straight-forward to me.

The flaw with a lot of these stupid online polls is, none of the choices are any good. This one does not suffer from that problem.

Of course, it is insulting God to have a pack of liars claim that they trust him.

it was added to money in the 50’s, if memory serves. There is a certain irony to this, as a decade later any semblance of metal value in our money was removed.

The gold and silver coin of the US from the 19th century to the early 20th century did not have this language, yet is greatly prized, compared to modern clad coinage. There is an object lesson here, imho.

The lesson might be expressed as: The State is going to devalue our fiat currency. The State also might like to remove a religious reference on said fiat currency. Which of the above constitutes an absolute emergency?

Yes. It’s a violation of the principle of separation of church and state.

No. The motto has historical and patriotic significance and does nothing to establish a state religion.
88%

It seems that there are fewer “We”’s in this country now than ever.

How else could a man named Barack Hussein Obama have been elected as Usurper In Chief so soon after 9/11/01.

The motto first appeared in a U.S. coin in 1864 during the Civil War.

You’re thinking of “under God” in the pledge of allegiance.

The folks at MSNBC need a bit of the Baldwin/Hyde treatment.

Should MSNBC be repeatedly beaten with a stick? My poll says yes...

I think we should change the national motto to “In God We Trust. In Obama, we don’t.”

Also, the 4th stanza of the National Anthem (Star Spangle Banner), circa 1814:

O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: 'In God is our trust.'
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Irish,English and Scot coinage do not have “in God we trust” as many other nations.
I think american coinage and paper money should have “in God we trust”, it’s tradition and stands for what this country became over the past 200 yrs and respect for our Founding Fathers.

Actually, gold and silver coins are not “currency.”

The slugs we’ve been using since 1965 could be considered currency. They certainly aren’t money.

No, they’ll keep it open until they get the results they want.
