I can’t blame this one on Jackson, to be fair.
People want a Savior so badly. Why don’t they look to Jesus? Why Michael Jackson, etc.?
That's why I did the (after the thread title) thing.
My theory is just as plausible as those broadcast on Sharpton’s airwaves.
My guess would be that God left rules (Commandments) that were to be kept. A modern messiah requires nothing more than a followers devotion (and perhaps money).
He's that guy who knowingly got Himself killed, even though He could have avoided it, right? He's the one who had so many followers get themselves killed off, or kill themselves to be with Him rather than stay here in this temporal existence. It could be argued that it would take a lot of Michael Jacksons or Jim Jones to catch up.
Perhaps you could explain why, to a person searching objectively for a "savior," Jesus would be any better than all other options...? If you can, many churches could use your help./,p> Don't get me wrong...I think He'd be a much better moral example and role-model, but other than asserting it's so, what can be said to make that argument?
