Palin Breaking Ground For Presidential Run
Moca Java ^ | July 10, 2009 | John Christy

So you’ve all seen and kept up with the latest happenings on Sarah, right? A lot of people in the media and the blogosphere declared her resignation “bizarre,” and a lot of others thought that, frankly, she was insane. Even many of Palin’s supporters were puzzled by this decision at first. Why would this woman, who was doing perfectly well building her resume and experience as governor of Alaska, abruptly resign?

It makes a lot more sense now. A few days ago, Palin scheduled a press conference, and none other than ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, Time, and countless other media outlets showed up. Today, an article came out in which Texas Governor Rick Perry declared that Palin would do campaigning for him, and following the declaration was a media frenzy. Palin’s people aren’t stupid; they know she’s a draw. They know that, at any time, at any place, and for any reason, Palin can kick up a storm in the media. It barely matters that Palin is the victim of all kinds of criticism and second guessing: by staying in the news media day and night, by plastering her beautiful face all over the news programs and papers, Palin will become a household name.

Look, Palin has already proved that she can draw the adoration and votes of most of middle America. She did well among men, and, with a little more familiarity, she’s sure to do well with women. It doesn’t matter what the pundits and the talking heads say; what matters is the final vote count in November, 2012. Palin is a draw; she knows this, her handlers know this, and Americans know this. Only the media doesn’t seem to know it, but even they are unknowingly boosting Palin’s appeal.

It’s been proven in the last election cycle that it’s dangerous to second-guess Palin. In 2008, it was McCain’s campaign staff, in a weak and pathetic thrust at ‘bi-partisanship,’ that held her back from saying what she really meant. All of the reports that came out stated that McCain’s people had all sorts of gag orders on Palin, and in addition were feeding her dozens of conflicting sets of talking points to give the media. Now that Palin has cut loose from Alaska, she has gained not only a national stage, but also the freedom and independence to convey her real personality to all of America for the next three years.

You wrote, “but ‘most’ men, not all but most, are not going to vote for a woman President, or a woman Vice President.”

You are entitled to and respected for your opinion. I for one being a man and Conservative, think you are completely wrong. Men more even than women see Gov. Palin as a down-to-earth realist as opposed to the phoney baloneys who are most in the political forefront. If she didn’t scare the hell out of Libs, then why are they constantly attacking her, and completely distorting her words and motives? Not only our Sarah, but her family also.
I agree with you to the extent that the “panties” are after her, whether worn by women or men.

You wrote, “ Most of the people I know, especially the elderly, registered Republicans men told me after they had voted that they did not vote McCain / Palin because of Palin. They were afraid JM would die in office and then we’d have a woman President.”

Then, who did they vote for?

Well, these Republicans had to be RINOS. Woman, man, who the hell cares as long as the Pres. is a Conservative. And also I will add that Sarah is much, much more Conservative than McLame.

She can’t be called a quitter the very moment she steps back into the arena.

It was a brilliant move which solved all of her + families problems ($$) and fills the vacuum of Republican leadership.

None of the guys could do it so let’s have the fiery lady take the reigns. Her common sense will carry her well. The polish will come

You wrote, “In 1960, he was cheated out of the presidency when Chicago Mayor Richard Daley stuffed enough ballot boxes to give Illinois to Kennedy, and Kennedy’s running mate Lyndon Johnson did the same in Texas.”

You are dead right on this, because as a supporter of Nixon we hoped he would challenge the illegal votes from Chicago, many of whom voted from the graveyard, and many who voted multi times. Nixon refused to as he said,”put the country through this turmoil” so did not challenge the vote count and as a result we got the Kennedy thing that keeps on going and going and going and going ad nauseam.

Palin has been. I did enjoy her time. What a fiasco though. Total chaos. Too bad she got mixed up with McCain, what a waste, I wish she sat out 2008.

“No need to be the front runner this far out.”

However, I would disagree with you about Gov. Huckabee having the “knives out for Gov. Palin” So far what I have seen is that almost all of his ideas on governing are about the same as Sarah’s.

“Now that Palin is free of the saboteurs, fags and traitors of the McCain camp and the ankle biters of the ‘rat left in Alaska, it is time to “Let Sarah be Sarah” and watch what happens.”

Needs to be repeated over and over again, because it is spot on.
Mahalo for your thoughts.

But I fear that voters could be turned off by her voluntary failure to complete the term for which she was elected.

Obama didn't finish his term for which he was elected. Hillary didn't finish her term for which she was elected. Dole didn't finish his term for which he was elected. Reagan would not have finished his term for which he was elected he he won the '68 nomination.

I could go on and on.

Absolutely right. Ain’t no “Conservative Messiah” going to excite an electorate like the commie BHO did.

BHO had his commie support crew in place. BHO was just a little more leftist than the rest of his party. Any conservative able to excite the Republican party would be, at best, a RINO. Anybody more conservative would be dismissed as a radical.

Unless, or until the conservative message gets adopted by a significant number at the “grassroots” level, the country is going to lurch left.

I agree with the assessment that Palin has outflanked the press, and hopefully the mainstream Republicans. She has NOTHING to gain from staying on as Governor. She can avoid the distractions of the left and left wing media. The distractions are planned I believe. The left KNOW they must defeat her now.

McCain would have been at least another 5 points behind BeHO if not for Palin... a muzzled Palin I might add. The Romney, Huckabee, Bush crowd KNOW she will clean their clocks come 2012; she must outflank them also.

In 2012 the Obama “Change” machine will come to fruition. The folks will want “Change” again. Obama is a one term president unless he can completely subvert the election (which is possible). The “Mainstream Republicans COULD lose, Palin won’t lose.

She has to do what Reagan did, take her message to the people. If she takes off the gloves and shows what nasty asses the press has been toward her children she might get a lot of attention and sympathy from the voters... who, like Palin, have REAL families. She MIGHT even whoop their collective asses enough to force them to examine their gross bias. Romney and company cannot ever do that... just part of the reason they will likely lose to a weak candidate.

The Current “Moderate” Republican Leadership are just like Bush, Dole, Bush, McCain.. weak. Dubya only won because he ran against very weak candidates. Even Obama was not that strong... McCain was just that weak.

I think Palin KNOWS what she is doing and it isn’t what the box thinkers think. This is a good thing.

It shouldn't play any different than Obama's resignation from the senate after 2 years, should it?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he resigned his senate seat until he won the presidency. I sure wish he was still a carping liberal senator.

She is my favorite candidate right now, I am a strong Palin fan. I'm also waiting to see if she actually runs, plus I'm just not sure how the issue of her not finishing her term will play if she does run.

She can’t be called a quitter the very moment she steps back into the arena.

Considering she was the one called inexperienced during the last campaign, anything the MSM does cleverly and repeatedly enough can stick, yes?

Exactly.

This whole “didn’t finish her term” meme is just a leftist talking point.

We conservatives must not give it any legs.

It might. If it does, it will only matter to hard-core political junkies and people who already dislike Palin. It will be ancient history to the rest of the public, esp if her campaigning for Perry et al, book deal, speaking circuit, fund raising, etc garner support (and they will).

And even then, all she has to say is, “It took 3 years of hard work to get to this point, and unlike certain politicians (zero), I did not want to pretend to do one job - being governor or a Congressperson - when I was doing another - helping the national conservative cause.”

Sarah is going a NEW WAY of doing things.....that's why the OLD, CAUTIOUS, STALE pundits including old bulls like Karl Rove, don't understand and mis-underestimate her.

Bammy did things a NEW WAY in knocking off the Clintons, and Sarah is doing it a NEW WAY, although a different NEW WAY!

Her resignation will be forgotten by the ADD voting public well before 2012...

And if it is not, all she has to do is look Zero right in the eye and state "America would be a lot better off today if you had resigned a few years back Mr President" preceded by whatever she wants to say about her own resignation...and of course with a great big smile on her face.

[Women are socialists.

That’s a pretty big statement that I have to argue against.]

It’s pretty easy to prove. Women vote around 10 points or more to the left of men.

Correct me if I'm wrong but running for president is a full time job and so is being a Senator (or Governor).

Correct me if I'm wrong again, but it seems to me that the politician who resigns their job to run for president instead of staying on as senator(or governor) is the politician who is doing the correct(ethical) thing.
