Hatch issues apology for racial slur

State Sen. Jack Hatch, D-Des Moines, formally apologized to his fellow lawmakers for using a racial slur during a conversation with an African American legislator last week. While discussing changes made to Hatch’s health care reform bill by a House committee, the Senator told state Rep. Ako Abdul-Samad, D-Des Moines, that they were both being treated like the “N-word” and like “master and slaves.”

Hatch told The Des Moines Register on Saturday that he “immediately apologized and I apologized to his clerk, and that’s the end of it. His clerk was sitting right there, and I shouldn’t have said what I said. His clerk is an African-American, and I know what that means when someone says that.”

The strange thing to me is what is a guy named Ako Abdul-Samad doing in Iowa?

Let’s see, who was it that said “the House is being run like a plantation, and you know what I mean” when the GOP was in charge?

My first thought, too. Probably picked the name up while doing time in an Iowa prison.

Does it mean the same thing when someone black calls me a 'honky' or 'cracker' or WMF'er? Apparently not so the accepted norms of political correctness according to asswipe liberals dictate. It is perfectly fine to castigate whites because of their color, especially white males.. It's okay, they were "the Massa" - they deserve that and so much more.

He said they were being treated that way. So what was the need for the apology?

We aren’t doing a lot of deep thinking in this society.

I was in court before the chief judge of a federal district court. With me was an African American attorney, this was a pretrial hearing and having nothing to do with race, I joked that if they didn’t settle the other side was going to have to face my associate at the trial.

The judge good naturedly said to him, oh so you are the 800 pound gorilla in the case then.

Do you know the judge and his clerks felt the need to meet with us in his chambers while the judge nervously apologized that he didn’t mean to say anything offensive.
