Taxpayer March on Washington Scheduled for September 12, 2009
FreedomWorks ^ | July 10, 2009 | Adam Brandon

Posted on 07/10/2009 9:07:38 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Washington, DC – Over the last six months the national debt skyrocketed by nearly $3 trillion. According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, our national debt will more than double by 2019. Americans will have to pay for this stratospheric spending spree first by begging foreign nations to buy our bonds, and later through higher taxes and inflation.

Grassroots anger at the inability of Washington to live within a budget has been building for some time, and began to boil over in late 2007 as the Bush Administration and Treasury Secretary Paulson abandoned their claimed free market principles to bail out auto makers and Wall Street banks through TARP.

When newly-elected President Obama and his allies in Congress passed the $780 billion debt stimulus plan in February 2009, activists took to the streets.

On tax day, the tea party movement began in earnest. Until now the movement has remained at the local levels. No longer will that be the case. The movement is coming to Washington on September 12, 2009 for a march and rally at the US Capitol.

From autos to banking, the government is crowding out the private sector of our economy. Where Bush bailed out the private sector, Obama is making hostile government takeovers. Ignoring our multi trillion dollar deficit, Washington is considering a massive new energy tax and a takeover of health care.

On Saturday, September 12th FreedomWorks will be joined by over ten thousands of liberty-loving activists to take a stand against politicians who are bankrupting our future. National co-sponsors include Tea Party Patriots, ResistNet, National Taxpayers Union, Americans For Tax Reform, Young Americans for Liberty, Ayn Rand Center, Campaign for Liberty, Free Republic, Young America’s Foundation, Smart Girl Politics, and The Club for Growth.

The event will kick-off on September 10th and 11th with various events throughout Washington including grassroots leadership training and Capitol Hill visits. The three-day event culminates on September 12th as taxpayers march on the Capitol building.

For more information, including media inquiries, registration, contacting event coordinators, and the schedule of events, please visit our event website at www.912dc.org.

Will be there. We need at least a million people in this march. There has to be a clear message delivered to Congress that we, the people, have had it with their incompetence, irresponsibility, and ineptness.

Has anyone from Free Republic thought to invite Sarah Palin to speak at this event on September 12th?

If she spoke at this event, she would bring the house down!

YOU SHOULD ADD:

And thousands of local-grass roots organizations which took root from the April 15th tax day tea parties (which are most important, IMO).

Great idea! Let’s try to get her. If she agreed soon, we could probably get 10 times as many people there and all of the MSM would be all over it. We need Sarah to do this.

I’ll be in DC, visiting the various Senators and Representatives that I email with regularity.

Would be great if WND could have a few vans with their “Where’s the Birth Certificate” billboard painted on them driving around DC on those days.

I believe the invitation is being made by the organizers of the FR Convention. It's quite possible that several of the groups involved have had the same idea. We're planning to be there, and I'd LOVE to see her at one of the smaller FR gatherings, but would be just as satisfied to have her address the FULL crowd on the 12th.

Since she'll no longer be an office holder OR a candidate for any office, she'd be a perfect person to speak.

Jim,
I just made my travel arrangements this a.m. and I was wondering if you have a registry of those who will be in attendance. It would be nice if we could contact people from our geographical area who are also going. I will be there with my 2 sons. Thanks.

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to update you on the planning for the March on Washington. If you haven't done so already, let us know that you will be there by signing up here:
http://912dc.org/event-registration/

It does not cost anything to participate in the March and the Rally at the Capitol on Saturday. Some of the training sessions and dinners on Thursday and Friday might have a cost, but this will be clearly indicated when you register separately for those events. Every dollar will be used to pay for the venue for these events.

Please note a few things about the March on Washington.
The latest information will be posted on this ning site, and www.912dc.org. If you hear conflicting information about the agenda, speakers, etc.. please check back here or at www.912dc.org for the most up to date, and accurate information.

If there is one thing you can do to promote the event, it is simply to invite as many people as you can to join this social network so that they can connect with others in their state and begin to organize buses, carpools and other travel logistics. We now have 1000 members in this group, so if everyone invites 10 people we will have 10,000 members, and if everyone invites 20 members we will have 20,000 members. Please use the "invite" feature on this site to easily alert your friends and family about the March on Washington.

A message to all members of 9-12 March on Washington

With so many people coming to Washington, it's imperative that leaders step up and organize groups in there area and handle local logistics. Another way you can really help us promote the event is by posting the link to our website www.912dc.org on blogs, so that thousands more will be made aware of the event. Finally, be sure to call your local talk radio hosts and ask them to talk about the event, and even to make the trip to DC to broadcast on location, if possible.

I look forward to working with all of you to make history September 10th-12th, when we storm Capitol Hill with thousands of Americans who have had enough and are ready to take their country back.

Finally, I know many of you are anxious about the details of the event. I expect that in the next week or so we will have many more details to share about venues, speakers and the march route itself. Keep checking the website or this ning site for updates. We will post information as soon as we get it to make sure that you are informed and can help us spread the word. I will send out frequent alerts like this one going forward, and do my best to keep you updated.

Thank you for your dedication to liberty, and I look forward to marching to the capitol with you on September 12th.
