LOL!!!!!!
I believe her outfit is typical of what all First Ladies have worn meeting the Pope—and no one asked me, but I think she looks tasteful and quite nice.
As I recall, female dignitaries must wear black veils when meeting the Pope...the only female dignitaries who can wear white veils are Catholic queens. Obviously hearkens back to an earlier time historically...I think there’s like 1 Catholic queen left in Europe. :)
And no “toned arms” in the Vatican....if you show up at St. Peter’s without sleeves or with shorts or something the guards will turn you right back out again.
They didn’t have a Mantilla so they grabbed the sheers from the hotel bathroom.
I can’t believe it. She dressed appropriately...except for the veil!?! Why not a traditional mantilla? They are in Italy...why not send one of the 20 ‘ladies in waiting’ out to get a Chapel Veil?
Well color is allowed but the arms below the elbow need to be covered, nothing above the knee, and the head needs to be covered to be appropriate. I think bright colors are a no no but pastels are ok? Motly it’s just very conservative dress that is appropriate. I don’t think women are allowed to wear pants but I’m not sure about that one?
OB,I been waiting for you-hehehehehe Then he whips out the holy water.
Oh dear, I didn’t think it could get any worse. That is the ugliest dress I’ve ever seen her wear. The apron outfit she wore in Paris is better than this, oh my goodness.
did you hear the gift was also appropriate? i was in the car listening on XM so i had to come right to FR to see pix, but i heard them say that the gift was actually a stole from a Saint who died in Phila. i didn’t catch the name. hopefully it will be posted somewhere in more detail. but greg burke from foxnews was chuckling at the gift actually being appropriate, given his past faux pas with gifts for heads of state.
>>but I think she looks tasteful and quite nice.<<
For her, you are quite correct.
But you see how other First Ladies dressed so, not up to par.
Personally, I don’t care how she dresses normally. But this one was a biggie in my mind and I’m really tired of being told how wonderfully she dresses.
Dittoes to what you said about the Reagans and JPII.
HA!
I saw that right here in FR.
Thank Goodness!
I might have blown a clot if the gift to the Pope was as bad as the English gifts!
And Barry screams, “I’m melting! Melting! Oh what a world, what a world......”
Who would ever imagine that hillary would be hailed as a tasteful style maven compared to what we currently have? i couldn’t recall hil and bill meeting with the pope, but she definitely looks fine in this pic.
Oh, I didn’t notice that the veil was sheer and not a mantilla. Hmm.
Well, whatever. I’m a guy. Close enough. :)
