EDITORIAL: Stonewalling on Walpin-gate

The White House ignores unanswered questions about the President Obama's dismissal of AmeriCorps Inspector General Gerald Walpin becomes more of a scandal with every White House action.

AmeriCorps is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, which is a federal agency. Both the White House and the general counsel at the corporation have been stonewalling congressional investigators. If their actions in firing Mr. Walpin were on the up and up, they wouldn't have anything to hide. It's also curious that they are selectively releasing certain documents to The Washington Post within minutes of The Post's requests after withholding those same documents (and many others) from congressional investigators for days or even weeks.

Mr. Walpin was fired on June 10 with no explanation and no warning to Congress, even though the act governing inspectors general says IGs can be removed only after the president gives Congress 30 days' notice and a reason for the firing.

Scandal? Is it really a scandal if no one is talking about it? All I'm hearing from the establishment news is that Michael Jackson is dead and that Sarah Palin should be. Pressure your Reps and Senators for a thorough investigation.

I agree with calls for an investigation into this and also the Amtrack situation.

Perhaps a FReeper language expert can help me here. I maintain the first sentence of this article is not a sentence. True?

I agree with the intent of the article but I also agree that the first sentence is very unclear and not grammatically correct....which certainly doesn’t help the cause of anyone who is pressing for further investigations!

That first line is a bad cut and paste from the original.

At the link and you'll see a subhead: The White House ignores unanswered questions about the scandal

And then the first line reads: President Obama's dismissal of AmeriCorps Inspector General Gerald Walpin becomes more of a scandal with every White House action.

Maybe the moderator can fix?

The White House ignores unanswered questions about the scandal

Is the headline IMO. But then again as others have said this is unspoken in the MSM so the WalpinGate headline is pushing it in reality of news.

can you reformat? Put the following quote in italics and bold as a subheadline?

“The White House ignores unanswered questions about the scandal.”

thanks

“...only after the president gives Congress 30 days’ notice...”

IIRC Obama was personally involved in the Congressional restructuring of the law to accomodate the 30 days notice to Congress prior to firing specifically an IG, along with a female Senator of the time whose name I cannot remember due having a Senior moment here right now LOL.

Once in awhile the ol’ brain dismisses it’s duties and goes into retirement itself.

EMAIL your Senators and Representatives and ask why this isn’t getting more coverage.
