Conservative Democrats break ranks on health care

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama on Friday acknowledged the tough going for his health care overhaul in Congress but rejected the notion the legislation is doomed if lawmakers fail to act by August. "I never believe anything is do or die," Obama said.

"We're closer to that significant reform than at any time in recent history," Obama told reporters at a news conference in Italy. "That doesn't make it easy. It's hard. And we are having a whole series of constant negotiations."

Conservative Democrats are demanding significant changes before they will support a sweeping health care overhaul, forcing the House to join the Senate in stalling Obama's top domestic priority.

The "Blue Dog Democrats" group released a list of demands on the eve of House Democratic leaders' planned unveiling of their final bill Friday. The bill release was pushed back to Monday at the earliest and Democratic leaders agreed to devote Friday to meetings with the fiscally conservative Blue Dogs to work through their concerns.

These include the need for more cost containment measures, protections for small businesses and a focus on rural health care.

"We cannot support a final product that fails to" address these issues, members of the group wrote to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer. Opposition from the 52-member group could imperil House passage of a bill.

Before Thursday, delays and internal Democratic disputes over taxes and the role of government had seemed mostly confined to the Senate. A bipartisan deal emerging in the Senate Finance Committee was threatened this week when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid indicated displeasure with the likely payment method, a new tax on health care benefits.

Such a great plan. Destroy the greatest healthcare system in the world. Create untold obscene debt to fund a disastrous program. Destroy Medicare benefits that most seniors HAVE PAID FOR all their lives. Probably cause many deaths due to rationed or denied care.

And for what? Why? FOR SOCIALIST GOVERNMENT POWER over the lives and well-being of the citizenry. So very Marxist.

D*mn right “it’s hard”.

Dim-bulb-crats believe that standing in a bucket and lifting oneself by the handle is hard too.

And it’ll continue to be hard - no matter how much they want to believe it’ll work.

It’s why things involving math (such as health care reform) should be left to those of us with a real education (not one in education, political “science”, or other marshmallow majors).

If Massachusetts can solve their “Healthcare problem” by spending 2% of their state budget to provide health insurance for 40 some thousand residents of the state, why does Uncle Sugar need to spend $1T to solve this issue?

I’m not an advocate of ANY government participation in healthcare, but if it has to be, I’d much rather the states do it.

“I never believe anything is do or die,” Obama said.

In the case of Obamacare, better make that do AND die...

(Conservative Democrats)

Bias alert! If the AP used the word “Moderate Democrat” like they do to RINO’s, it might mean that the other Democrats are extremists. Can’t have that! Hence the words “Conservative Democrats”, which to the AP is an insult (how dare they be conservative!). Simply disgusting.

But they’re going to ruin Obama’s clever scheme of solving the economic crisis by...wasting lots of money.

“Is there such a thing?”

Relatively speaking. A more precise term would be: “Less Liberal Democrats”.

"I never believe anything is do or die," Obama said.

You foul, effing liar. Then why do you ram everything through on a mandate of "Vote-for-it-so-that-I-can-sign-it,-then-we'll-write-the-bill-later." ?

“Sane Democrats Beak Ranks on Health Care”

That is a more accurate title.

Oh, please....
Does anybody buy this?

The rats are only using this alleged coalition to game the populace into believing that the final bill, having been “approved” by “conservative Democrats,” isn’t so bad after all. “Gee! Whaddaya know?”

The state run newsrooms will do whatever they can to help.

Yes, there are conservative Democrats, and frankly, I’m glad there are! They are the ONLY people slowing That One down in his rush to fascism.
