Voters Swinging to Republicans on Issues

Voters have now witnessed 2.5 years of Democratic control over Congress and six months of total control in Washington, and they don't much like what they see.

The Rasmussen survey now finds that likely voters trust Republicans more than Democrats on eight out of ten key issues, including a 46-41 margin on the economy and 52-36 on taxes.

If these trends continue, we may see the beginning of a Republican comeback in 2010.

IF, and only IF, the Republicans don’t screw it up.

I hate to be negative, but it’s not called the “Stupid Party” for nothing!

Baraq is still strong with dead voters and ACORN members.
Throw in union members, idiot libs, minorities, and illegals and he’s still scarily close to a voting majority.
Races in individual congressional districts may be less influenced by these without the Messiah effect. Let’s work for gridlock starting in 2010.

Honestly the R party is in total confusion. The change in polls is natural especially considering democrats have what is seen as full control. While I really enjoy watching the democrats natural slide the next two years, republicans (post Bush) scare me.

MSNBC reported on polls every day 3 months ago w Obama up, but NOW most shows have NO discussion of them, got to love it.

Actually, it's just an emulation of the Dems strategy for 2006 and 2008 - watch the other side implode. Of course, save for Fox (some of the time) the GOP doesn't have the SRM on their side.

But since the damage being done now is so tangible to nearly everybody, even they, despite their best efforts can't cover up everything for the Dems much longer.

Voters not affiliated with either party trust Republicans more to handle the economy by a 46% to 32% margin.

That's the most important sentence in the report, in my opinion.

Just as the Messiah’s election is a no confidence vote in Bush, this recent Rasmussen poll is a no confidence vote in the unholy trinity - Obama / Pelosi / Reid.

Republicans can't just sit there and wait for the public's support. They need to begin educating the public about the cause & effect of Big Government programs. The waste and incursions upon our freedoms. They need to remind Americans in the strongest terms just how pernicious and parasitical is the government in their lives.

Otherwise people will just go back to accepting bribes from their congresspersons and voting democrat once the economy recovers.

But in reality the majority of Republican politicians aren't for smaller government at all.

This is important:

The GOP has a 40% to 34% lead on the issue of immigration and is ahead 46% to 39% on abortion.

Republicans also edge out Democrats on government ethics and corruption for the second straight month, 34% to 33%.

Also for the first time in over two years, Republicans lead Democrats on the issue of Social Security 42% to 37%.

Democrats have also seen their leads shrink on two of the party’s strong points, health care and education. The party holds a four-point lead on health care, down from 18 points in May. The Democrats’ advantage on the issue is the smallest found in over two years.

On education, Democrats lead Republicans 41% to 38%, also the smallest margin in over two years. Democrats held a 15-point lead in May on the issue.

The GOP needs new, conservative leadership to take advantage of these trends. The current “Republicans” spend more time praising Obama than opposing him.

“If these trends continue, we may see the beginning of a Republican comeback in 2010.”

But will it be a ‘conservative’ comeback, or just the CFR Rino republicans like we’ve been getting filled with Bushs, McCains, Powells, Newts???

The ‘Rats job as they see it: Lets see how much we can insert monkey wrenches here and gum things up there, basically be destructive... just so the Republicans will not be able to fix things when they next take power.

I was wondering how long it would take. Clinton dropped in polls after a few months. The important thing is to dig up and remind public of democrats promises on the stimulus, how they had to pass it without reading it to create all those immediate jobs.
