I wrote earlier this week about hints in public polling that independent voters are having doubts about President Obama and the Democrats, so naturally the next poll out of one of the states I mentioned, Ohio, suggests the opposite.
DailyKos's Research 2000 poll out yesterday has Obama at a very healthy 64% among independent voters; that's far above the Quinnipiac 48% job approval rating -- though it's worth keeping in mind those are different numbers, and Obama is personally consistently somewhat more popular than his actions.
On the national polling front, Gallup's Frank Newport (looking at numbers I mentioned) also suggests independents are an issue, and finds Obama's job approval about where George W. Bush's was in July of 2001, though well above Bill Cltinton's...

“Daily Kos” and “independent” are a contradiction in terms.
How about a Free Republic poll of independents?
Bam does not care about indies shifting (he is paying too much attention to undies shifting...on that 16 yr. old babe at the G8...)
And why should we believe anything written by Ben Smith at Politico? 64% support from indies? Yeah right.

I've voted for two Democrats in my life. That makes me an independent. I'd like to see Obama struck by lightening while he's on camera staring at the bum of a teenage girl. There.
I used to believe that was true, but recently read something from an Independent group seeking to preserve and expand the open primaries. We need to begin pushing in the other direction, and soon.
