House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said that the health-care reform bill now pending in Congress would garner VERY FEW VOTES if lawmakers actually had to read the entire bill before voting on it. In fact, Hoyer found the idea of the pledge humorous, LAUGHING as he responded to the question, "I'm laughing because I don't know how long this bill is going to be, but it's going to be a very long bill." Is this what the liberal majority in Congress has stooped to? Is the very idea that Congess actually reads the legislation they're turning into the law of the land so foreign to them that it's funny? Is this even democracy?

These clowns fail to grasp how morally corrupt it is to not only vote on a bill they haven't read but to laugh at even the thought of bothering to do so. But the dems appear to be right in one area...their constituency is composed of flaming idiots because they keep voting fools like Hoyer into office. At least they do have someone that represents their intellectual incapacity.
Hoyer laughing at the thought of being required to read the bill he is voting on should be turned into a TV commercial. It should be - but it won’t be.
I think it's time to let "Congress" know that they are not immune to pitchforks, and tar and feathers.
I agree. The voters got what they wanted and deserved. Still, it’s amazing to me that that politicians like Hoyer can openly laugh at what they should be ashamed of and trying to hide!
That’s a great idea! I think Dick Morris could make such a commercial. But you’re right. The GOP will be afraid it wouldn’t be “nice.”
Amen!
Unfortunately, my mother is one of these. When I tell her something a democrat says she doesn't believe they'd say something so stupid...but then doesn't bother to check to confirm I was telling the truth. That was exactly her response, for example, when I pointed out the Rahm Emmanuel said never let a good crises go to waste. As long as democrats are willfully ignorant or outright stupid the rest of us will suffer because of it.
Exactly right. I guess we all have some relative or friend who thinks that way. To me, it’s a sad fact of human nature - some people only see or hear what they want to see or hear. The whole message of Socrates was that the greatest human failure was to refuse to SEARCH for the truth. I think the Dems have made so many people mindless spouters of the party line that they can’t even think for themselves anymore - one of the problems of becoming completely DEPENDENT on government!
Not reading what they’re passing should be one of the key issues raised by conservative candidates in 2010 legislative races. The content and impact of the bill is of course the other, then of course there are the amendments (piled on pork).
Conservative legislative candidates should begin their Monthly Legislative Watches Now not wait until campaign time
so that they don’t have to re-establish themselves as viable candidates in the on comming election.

Absolutely - I totally agree that it should indeed be a key issue. Unfortunately, I’ve recently come to believe about many conservatives what Abba Eban said of the Palestinians: “They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.” But let’s hope anyway.
