[Governor] Palin Invited to Iowa GOP Dinner

Despite announcing her resignation as Alaskan governor with 18 months to spare, Sarah Palin is still a sought-after asset in the Republican Party.

The Des Moines Register is reporting that Iowan Republicans have extended a hand to Palin to headline the annual Reagan Day Dinner, set for this fall.

Iowa GOP Executive Director Jeff Boeyink told the Register that the party had been pursuing Palin since January and that her resignation has increased the effort to secure her at the fundraising event.

Boeyink's confirmation came after Senator Chuck Grassley told the The Des Moines Register Wednesday that he believes Palin would be a good fundraiser for Iowa.

"I think she has quite a following in Iowa, and maybe I’m impressed because, at three events I spent with her in Iowa during the last campaign, she had bigger turnouts than McCain had,” Grassley said.

Additionally, Palin has been tapped to campaign for Texas Governor Rick Perry's reelection next year.

Not all Republicans running for reelection are actively seeking support from Palin, however. Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell said that there had been contact between his and Palin's camps, and he called her a "great spokesman." But did not go on to say that he wanted her support.

I thought she was "finished, kaput, dead-in-the-water, a quiiter, over, done with" and etc.? Why would Republicans want her to campaign and fundraise for them?

Who is Virginia Governor McDonnell supporting for 2012? Anyone know?

They only want her for her ability to draw in $$$$.

Otherwise, I doubt they’d even think of inviting her.

Sadly, money talks. Still, going to Iowa, is in and of itself, not a bad idea. Sarah needs direct exposure with the people, and Iowa still has a position in the primary process. If she raises money for good conservative candidates, and makes a little for herself and her family, all the better.

Why would Democrats be fundraising for Republicans?

"She is an important and galvanizing voice in the Republican Party. I believe she will be very helpful to the party this year as we wage critical campaigns in Virginia and New Jersey," Steele said.
I'm surprised to see that comment from Steele.

I'm with you. The more "irrelevent" she becomes the more David Loserman and Conehead O'Brien attack her.

I predict she will be an alternative to the Democrats and Republicans in 2012. She's going to be the nominee of the American Conservative Party.

ROFLMAO !!!!

There are actually so few Republicans left in the GOP, by the time you get three names down the list, Democrats are all that's left.

At least Sarah can rasie $$$$. That's more than the rest of these losers can do. Have her replace Steele for a year or two, then at least we could afford to buy an ad or two.

It is fitting that she is being invited to the Reagan Day Dinner because of all the people that I see, she is the closest to Ronald Reagan’s spirit than anyone. I don’t know if she is presidential material, but there can be lots of room for her in the Republican Party. Sarah Palin believes in the tried and true American values and she can throw a good punch as well. We need a fighter not these frozen sardines who call themselves leaders.

Leave it to SeeBS to spend time and strenuous effort to weed out and hunt down one Republican to put words in his mouth in order to muck up a story with crap that is unrelated to the original story.

As an Iowan who was at a McCain rally; and a Palin rally, it wasn't Palin who lost the election. She has an energy and dynamism that are incredible, and she should be unleashed. Go Sarah...we got your back!

Iowa is a lost state for conservativism. It is so deeply entrenched in federal farm subsidies, the Democratic Party and big-government Republicans (many of them so-called ‘conservatives’) bow down to the ‘hog and tractor lobby’ constantly that it will never be a viable state again. It will continue to die in population and economic viability like it has for the past 50 years. People in this state, both liberals and conservatives, still think it is 1910 in terms of economics. Good luck Sarah; come and raise a little bit of money in this state from the very tiny few conservatives who live in the 21st century world in Ioway.
