SCIENTISTS say they have discovered a wonder drug that could help people live up to ten years longer.

Rapamycin is a bacterial product found in soil samples on remote Easter Island in the South Pacific.

It works by inhibiting a protein called TOR that plays a key role in cell growth.

Rapamycin is widely used to stop transplant patients rejecting their new organs.

“SCIENTISTS say they have discovered a wonder drug that could help people live up to ten years longer.”

I wonder if the name of the SCIENTISTS just happen to be
Klee Irwin
Kevin Trudeau
Arthur P. Johnson

All yogurt is the same, Jamie Lee Curtis is full of S**t, even though the other person in the commercial claims not to be.
In all the Nutra-System commercials the disclaimer states that all the weight loss that they mention happened before starting Nutra-System.

In fact I think they were double blind clinical studies. The gold standard of clinical techniques...

The Nutra Systems commercials disclaimers do not say that.

Nutra-system is a very effective weight loss method -— I should know I used it and lost 48 lbs, as did my wife (30 something).

Almost 2lbs/week.

Kept it off for a year now.

Sorry did they ever figure out the deal with those statues?

Yes they did!
Excellent story too, by the way.

Jared Diamond wrote an excellent summary about the entire story.
He's a bit of a left-wing apologist for the success of white people, but his science is normally spot-on if you throw out the PC bits.

Easter Island Story

If you like that, Jared Diamond wrote two excellent books that I can highly recommend - even though he is a semi-rabid left-winger...

Guns, Germs and Steel
I forgot the other one, but if you like the one I posted above, FReepmail me and I'll look it up again.

:)

Guns, Germs, and Steel was a really cool book. A real thought provoker.

One side effect, after 150 years your head grows huge and you turn to stone.

Hey, but you get a beautiful view of the ocean!

***One side effect, after 150 years your head grows huge and you turn to stone. ***

Years ago my momma warned that if I looked at pictures of naked women I would turn to stone. I peeked one time and found it was true! I started turning to stone!

Now I just wish! :-(

Vigorous exercise can add many active years to one's life...but most folks would rather take a pill so they can spend ten more years on the couch watching America's Biggest Loser.

Exercise does indeed lengthen life, apparently eating less does too. But I had a different take on it. What if it were treated as a vitamin instead of a magic bullet pill? There would still be some couch potatoes no doubt. But some would feel better and be healthier and therefore motivated to be more active and eat healthy, getting the best benefits of both, just as people already active and healthy would hopefully see extra benefit, too.

Oh, damn, all that ocean and no view! It’s deceptive the way they are sometimes photographed.
