BAGHDAD – More than 40 people died in bombings in Iraq on Thursday in the worst violence since U.S. combat troops withdrew from urban areas at the end of last month.

Even though attacks are down sharply from past years of war, the carnage was a reminder that insurgents remain intent on destabilizing Iraq as the United States shifts its focus to the war in Afghanistan. Militants have been driven from many strongholds, but they routinely inflict casualties in Baghdad and northern Iraq, a cauldron of ethnic and sectarian tension.

Every time a bomb goes off in Iraq, one should go off in TEHRAN! Or maybe two?

Oh well, it's their country now and they have to step and secure it.

Or maybe not, and all the blood and treasure spilled by American soldiers will be for naught. But that's Bush's fault.

Hey, have you seen Malia Obama's cool t-shirt...?

All this noise in Iraq and at the same time complaints that the US didn’t have enough troops for the latest offensive. Is Obama setting us up for failure as an excuse for full withdrawal from all parts?

Management failures and arbitrary end dates do have consequences...

Malia Obama's cool t-shirt is not as cool as any of my Woot! shirts...

“Bombs across Iraq”

Sounds like some kind of muslim charity drive. Kinda like Hands Across America only with a little more POW!

Actually, the “end dates” were agreed to by Bush in the SOFA he signed before he left office.

The Iraqis wanted us to stay longer.

The left is pulling out because they want the new Iraqi government to fail so they can make it the new Vietnam and hold it against the Republicans.

Even my kid’s school books say we lost the war in Vietnam.

What a croc!

Actually, the end dates were not public centerpieces in someone’s election campaign. I recall that they were not set in stone and not given press press coverage giving President Bush credit for ending the conflict. Clearly, you must jest to say that Obambi has no responsibility in this.

No...most of the bombings in Iraq are perpetrated by Sunni Muslims against Shia Muslims. Iran is Shia so why punish them for what the allies of the Saudis are doing?

Joy. Iraq is a white elephant. There will never be peace there, unfortunately our military will be killed over the conflicts between ethic and religious mobs.
