Mean Street: Human Nature and the Coming Failure of Obamanomics
Wall Street Journal ^ | July 09, 2009 | Evan Newmark

Posted on 07/09/2009 8:15:20 AM PDT by RobinMasters

This is my “told you so” column. Truth is — I was saving it for later in the summer when the Office of Management and Budget revises its deficit figures and reveals just how badly Obamanomics is faring.

But in the last few days, the president and vice-president have been confessing the administration’s failings on the economy to the world’s media, so I’ve had to hurry things along.

So here it is: I told you so.

I told you the president should have focused 100% of his energies on the economy.

I told you the president’s housing plan wouldn’t work out.

I told you that all the class warfare involving taxing the wealthy would hurt consumer spending.

I told you that in spite of the stimulus, unemployment was heading way higher than forecasts.

And I told you that the Obama budget was a fibbers’ delight — and that the White House would eventually be forced to fess up to its Pollyannish forecasts.

The Obamanation and his minions in Congress will be flowing down the ole toilet bowl into the sewer they arrogantly, selfishly created any time now.

BUMP!!

“Our behavior may be unpredictable, but it’s not that complicated. Individuals fight to protect their own interests. Businesses fight to protect their profits. That’s what we do — and what we’re supposed to do.

So why did the White House believe that new income and capital gains taxes on the wealthy would keep them spending and investing?

Why did the White House believe that removing overseas tax shelters and raising energy prices would make CEOs keen to bring on new hires?

And why did the White House believe its angry class warfare rhetoric would unite rich and poor, the CEO and worker, the employed and unemployed in our shared goal to grow the economy?”

If one views Obama, and his policies from the standpoint that he hates the middle class, every thing he has done and proposes to do makes perfect sense.

I think this guy's on to something big here, we're reaching a tipping point and it's going to come hard and quick. This may finally give us the ability to reduce the federal governments size, scope and reach and return power to the States, where the power belongs.

Get ready and be ready. Join local groups like the various tea party groups and connect with others. Plan on attending street protests, community demonstrations, the 912 March on DC. The liberals have had all the momentum their way for too many years, it's time for us to organize and fight back.

It’s the same old story—liberals always use static rather than dynamic analysis to calculate the effect of a policy change, and they are always wrong.

I like to use this example of the way they think: A bridge between two towns saves a motorist one mile, compared to going around the lake that the bridge spans. The toll is one dollar, and 1000 people per day find that it is worth the buck to save a few extra minutes of driving. The local administrators decide that they could raise a lot more money by raising the toll, so they raise it to ten dollars. They now anticipate that daily revenues will increase from $1,000 to $10,000. They are shocked, surprised, and mystified to learn, after a few days, that revenue has dropped to near zero. If 1000 times one dollar yields 1000 dollars, why doesn’t a thousand times ten dollars yield 10,000 dollars?

Where’s the best place to get a list of upcoming tea parties?

I know that this is beyond “progressive” abilities, but when it is said that, “...focused 100% of his energies...” we must remember that 100 x 0 is still 0.

This clown is way, way beyond his limited abilities. Without his teleprompter to provide words, Palin would clean his simpleton clock.

One thing does seem apparent:
"Hope & Change" is coming apart a lot faster than I was expecting.

I helped organize one in our community on July 4th and we had roughly 1000 people show up in our little community. I believe the excesses of the federal government, regardless of the party, have awoken a sleeping giant. We're just getting our legs under us and we're still a little wobbly, but we're definitely getting stronger. Look at how they ignore us...we're the proverbial elephant in the room.

I believe that the Obie gang knew exactly what they were doing. Tank the economy and then enact more of their socialist agenda while everyone is too busy lamenting the loss of their job, house etc... to watch what the creep is doing.

He's not letting a "good crisis go to waste".

Their challenge now is spinning enough of their BS excuses to keep the flock following them.

Or building another bridge.

The author believes Obamanomics has failed, but Obama & Co. may be very pleased with the way things are going.

The GM & Chrysler are done deals, transferring much wealth from creditors to the UAW.

The stimulus & budget are on the way to richly rewarding friends, relatives, & cronies; from the pockets of citizens & the magic of the printing press.

Cap & Trade will further line the pockets of the ruling class, at the expense of businesses & consumers.

Gov’t Health care is just a power grab.

I'll bet Obama thinks things are going just swell. The bad economy will hurt his enemies, while he props up his friends with bailouts.

I wonder, are these pundits naive, or simply trying to be polite and avoid the “racist” label for anyone that tells the truth about a leftist/fascist?

Sure, 0bama’s plan is “failing” if his goal was to get the economy going again. That’s not the goal.
