The modern definition of gaffe is the accidental act of a politician telling the truth. Steny Hoyer gives us a demonstration in his assessment of the health-care reform bill his party is pushing in both chambers of Congress. The bill will get plenty of support as long as no one actually bothers to learn what it does:
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said Tuesday that the health-care reform bill now pending in Congress would garner very few votes if lawmakers actually had to read the entire bill before voting on it.

Maybe that's the point of reading the damned things instead of willy nilly voting for every bloated pos bill that comes across their desks.
It's a sad commentary on the Congress that they wouldn't be scared off by what's in it, but that's a different matter.
“A good rule of thumb: if a Representative or a Senator cant be expected to read it, it shouldnt pass into law. Apply this standard, and watch how that stops the growth of government and the stupidities of the law.”

Good enough....now if he practices what he preaches, then I’ll be impressed!

I think his point is that its too long and cumbersome for anyone to actually read it.
Of course, he misses the point entirely by not knowing that a regulation like that will harm the system.
Then shorten it up and put it in language all can understand.
If its too long to read pass it in small increments.
It’s a load of crap to pass something that will burden us the rest of our lives without reading it.
These bills are written by people who for the most part have never had real jobs, or not for very long.
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
