British Prime Minister Gordon Brown warned in an interview on the eve of today's G8 summit that the world is now facing a second wakeup call a crisis of growth and employment as severe as the credit crisis of the past year.

And Mr. Obama signalled this week that the United States would likely agree to a push to set policies to limit global atmospheric temperature increases to two degrees above preindustrial temperatures, regardless of the cost.
These people are certifiable
Um, so when is Obama gonna start telling the hurricanes and tornadoes when they can and can’t come? I wonder if he can send us some rain tomorrow.
We need more govt spending and a tax increase. That will make things better.
The problem is really very simple. All over the world there are more people taking than giving, consuming rather than producing. Year after year more and more people depend more and more on the government handout for everything from womb to tomb. Add to that the seriously flawed idea that government can centrally an economy and a nation’s production and you have the perfect storm. You can only transfer so much of your labor market to the service sector before you start to run into trouble. And we’ve done about as much of that we can. Not only can we no longer support our own needs we’ve moved so much overseas that there’s not enough production of needed items here to pay the cost of making them overseas and sending them back here. And it all traces back to our desire to base competition on a single thing, namely price. They can make the widgets for less over there, so we quit making widgets here and paying them less to make them over there. That’s fine so long as there’s something the need over there that we still make here or all the money eventually flows out of here to over there. Now we can’t afford to buy widgets, regardless of how cheaply they can be made and we no longer have the ability to make them ourselves.
I wonder what Washington, Adams, or Jefferson would think about these clowns running things today.
Your post makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately too many on here still subscribe to the failed liberal free trade policies that do not work.
Probably wonder why our lazy asses haven’t revolted and started over.
Regardless of the country, libs are negatively oriented. They are predetermined toward pessimism.
“And Mr. Obama signalled this week that the United States would likely agree to a push to set policies to limit global atmospheric temperature increases to two degrees above preindustrial temperatures”
Based on absolutely ZERO evidence of a certifiable metric of getting from here to there. How fortunate for them. Once this passes, and global temps drop as they will naturally, these goons are going to take credit.
ZERO evidence of a certifiable metric = ZERO evidence or a certifiable metric
“The problem is really very simple .... free trade bump!
Liberals will fight the problem with more of the liberal policies that made the problem. It’s all they know.
There's no way in hell the economy is coming back before Slobama gets reelected which means his chicken, I mean goose, is cooked.
