Well, I just read the text of the original bill, and it says nothing about terrorists. It is to establish centers on military bases for temporarily housing citizens who are displaced by natural disasters such as Katrina.
Yeah, I can already hear the complaints about the military’s accomodations.
Like Steve, I too just read the proposed legislation. I really dont think it says what this article claims.
Its purpose is to set up emergency shelters to be used in the event of national disasters. While it is true that it includes a nonspecific clause allowing the Director of Homeland Security to use the centers for “other” purposes deemed appropriate, I believe that would be purposes appropriate to the intent of the legislation.
I dont believe Janet Napolitano is being given the right to declare a person a national security risk and put him in a detention center.
