Apparently Sarah Palin's decision to quit her post as Governor of Alaska wasn't as misguided as it sounded at first, because it has certainly already begun to work it's magic on winning over the Republican party. According to a new USA Today/Gallup Poll, her popularity has surged amongst Republicans since she made the announcement.
71 percent of Republicans said they would vote for Palin if she ran for president in 2012, and three-fourths believe that Palin has been treated unfairly by the media.
Two-thirds of Republicans want Palin to be "a major national political figure" in the future, while three-fourths of Democrats are hoping that she won't be. Independents by 55%-34% would prefer she leave the national stage.

Let us encourage McCain, Colon Bowell and their ilk start their own third party.
I will even suggest a mascot.

This has been the battle since Bush Sr. and the insidious manipulations by The Council on Foreign Relations. Previously Reagan spoke right through it.
The really frightening question is now, even with an incisive spokes(wo)man, are there more "folks" (those who embrace traditional values, common sense,and conservative principles), than those consumed by, as FR puts it, the slick spin of the Kool Aid?
I joined up on twitter two days ago, and here following number was somewhere around 68,000. I just checked, and it is at 87,044.
Only my opinion: Quit is like Obama and Dodd in 2007-08 sitting Senators doing zilch in Congress,while running for POTUS. Quit is like Byrd and Kennedy drawing pay while not performing their elected duties.
Resign is like giving notice to those who hired me that I had found a better calling and would not waste their time or money while moving on.

Al Franken is cool and has “gravitas”. Dukakis is the
policy wonk/adminsitrator we all crave.
I don’t care what Rove says, Cal Thomas, Couric,
Lanny Davis, Chrissy Mathews, etc. I want a “leader”
like Ronald Reagan who can appeal to the common citizen and
“Reagan Democrats”. See you at the polls.

There are those, mostly Democrat but some “Republicants” as well, who say that it’s not “reasonable” to expect Sarah to run for president after resigning her term so early.
I say:
Throw “reason” to the dogs. It reeks of corruption.

Agreed the GOP ruined themselves going gung ho for the bailout. Would McCain have really cleaned up DC and the corruption and lobbiests? HELL NO! The question is will anybody? CAN anybody?
Sarah Palin has come out of the blue to make a huge mark on American politics. She reminds me not of Reagan, but of Teddy Roosevelt.
While Roosevelt brought a more robust Federal Government into being, it was from a populist point of view (food inspections, improved working conditions, etc.) And it’s the populist message that she could use to run much stronger than any of the elites give her a chance to do.
As much as I hate running one group of people against another, the political reality is that running “main street” against “wall street” and running against Washington will be the way to win in 2012.
The facts that she will not be in an elected position, that she has been savaged by the press, and that she has “the common touch” will all be advantages if she decides to run, especially if she rails against the “unfairness” of life for the common man.
Obama was supposed to be the outsider, but so far he has done nothing to indicate that he is not part of “business as usual”.
If the economy tanks and America seems weak in two years, then Sarah Palin could take it in a walk. She’s the only “populist” that’s warming up right now.
Exactly look at Obama’s pathetic chicago mob organizing resume. Look at ole slick clinton... Look at Al Franken. Palin is as qualified as the next man.
can’t be true. The “pundits” in Washington (Karl Rove, Larry Sabato, Fred Barnes, and etc) said it can’t happen.
I think you hit on it there. That is the "something" that I've been sensing in all the attractiveness of Sarah. Why has she captured the love/hate of so many people? That's the crux of the matter. elitists vs. the people.

Sarah has a very powerful weapon that the Rinos the Left and sorted elites lack.
