Republican insiders see value in Sarah Palin's move [RINOs trying to suck Palin in for $$]
Politico ^ | July 8, 2009 | Manu Raju

Leading Republicans on Capitol Hill see Sarah Palin’s bombshell announcement last week that she’ll resign as Alaska governor as a potential win-win for her and their party. Their thinking: As a private citizen, she’ll be free to raise big bucks for 2010 candidates and at the same time restore her credibility and stature within the bruised party.

The reasoning goes against the grain of the current political conventional wisdom. Palin’s relationship with the Washington GOP has been chilly ever since she vaulted into national prominence as the running mate for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) — who told POLITICO Tuesday that he got no heads-up from Palin about her resignation. But while many national Republican strategists and operatives are dubious about how Palin’s surprising move will affect any potential plans to run for president in 2012, key Republican lawmakers — with a high degree of self-interest — believe that Palin has a chance to broaden her support beyond her fervent conservative base to other elements of the party by stumping for candidates and raising funds ahead of next year’s pivotal midterm elections.

If she provides key support for candidates, they say, she could win critical political backing ahead of the 2012 GOP presidential primaries.

“So predictable....”

What’s predictable is the heads of a large number of FReepers are going to explode when Sarah goes to campaign for McCain. You gotta know it’s coming; she admires him and will act on a sense of loyalty by giving a speech or two on his behalf. And, reflexively, she’ll be called a RINO, traitor, etc., etc.

Each if us REALLY needs to sort the Wheat from the Chaff within our own states. Easy for me to say with all ‘Rats ‘representing’ me. *SNORT*

I’m pretty sure Sarah can do just that. I’m predicting that soon her endorsement, or NOT, will be the death knell for many a RINO. ;)

I wouldn’t worry about it. People who truly support Sarah Palin understand that the word “loyalty” actually means something to her.

Sarah’s PAC needs to stay away from the RNC. It is dominated by good-ol boy RINO’s who have done as much damage to her as democrats.

But supporting RINOs over conservatives will weaken her support and moral authority. If anything the RINOs should be scared that she will separate the sheep from the goats in the Republican Party by publicly supporting people like Rubio over Crist in the Florida Senate race. If Specter had not left, is there any doubt that she would support his opponent, unlike what President Bush did?

Good to know that. Though I may grit my teeth while she does it, I’ll still support her.

For the forseeable future, Palin’s attackers can pick her apart publically, but cannot file ethics challenges on a near daily basis. I’m not sure her move was a bad one.

The rank and file love her.
The GOP “Leadership”, not so much.
She needs to hunt RINOs, not moose these days.
Anyhow, this should be interesting.

That would spare her the problem, that’s for sure.

I'd love for her to campaign for rock-ribbed, true-blue Conservatives for the 2010 elections. She needs to build that base and mid-term elections are all about getting your base out to vote. Getting rid of a bunch of spineless RINO's would give her the gravitas needed to be the frontrunner in 2012.

I can see her campaigning for RINO's, Northeastern Moderates, and the such for the 2012 Presidential election, when you need to appeal to the broad base. As much as we trash Moderate and Liberal Republicans (and it's well-deserved trashings), the most squishy, spineless, left-leaning Republican is tougher for National Defense and supporting our troops abroad than the most Conservative Democrat.

Look, Sarah is going to campaign for John McCain. Freepers need to get used to this and grit their teeth. McCain picked her out of Nowheresville and made her an overnight sensation. If he had picked Pawlenty or some other Clyde, we'd have gotten three states.

You should thank McCain for his one brilliant stroke of the Campaign and bite your tongue. Sarah loves the guy. She can't help herself.

Best,

Chris

Except for the Republican who piled on, they stood by and did nothing to help her. I am (even) LESS inclined to give the Republican party money now.

She has said repeatedly since her resignation that she intends to support people who:

-believe in energy independence,
-believe in smaller government
-believe in lower taxes...

That would rule out: McCain, Crist and many other R’s. We’ll see. If she campaigns for Crist against the real conservative, Rubio, I will say she lied.

Anyone who believes that they, or the government, is better at making decisions than the individual

is elitist chaff,

and must be winnowed out and burned in the fire.
