Pope calls for a UN 'with teeth'
BBC News ^ | 6/7/09

The Pope has called for reform of the United Nations and financial bodies, giving them the "real teeth" needed to tackle economic and social injustice.

Benedict XVI said the blind pursuit of profit and economic mismanagement had "wreaked havoc" on the global economy.

The market, said the Pope, must not become the place where the strong prevail over the weak.

No worries, Pope - if you don't mind the U.N.'s definition of "economic and social justice."

He is way off base. Surprised about that considering how hostile the UN is to Catholics in general...

He totally misunderstands the goals of the UN. All they want is domination over the world. Not in the United States. We need to rotate the UN headquarters to other countries and then the world will see what they are all about. Move them to Iraq.

The UN’s idea of “economic justice” would probably include wealth redistribution: say, liquidating the Vatican billions and re-distributing it to certain Swiss Bank Accounts belonging to various third-world sitting members of the UN General Assembly.

The pope needs to go back to mis-informing his flock.

United Nations and financial bodies, giving them the "real teeth" needed to tackle economic and social injustice.

The only objection the Pope is likely to have to their definition is that it is too mild and doesn't level the scoreboard enough.

The Pope is not talking about socialism. This is leftist spin.

The Pope needs to worry about our spiritual needs. An enormous job in todays world.

The economics of the world isn't really in his purview IMO.

Read what he writes in the complete document and not the media interpretation.

If the Pope thinks a “UN with teeth” will be Catholic (or even Judeo-Christian) friendly, he’s been drinking too much sacramental wine.

Okay. Just as soon as the UN adopts the US constitution in total. Not one picosecond before.

Read some of it. This is not what Pope Benedict is saying!

Excerpts from Pope Benedict XVI New Encyclical "CARITAS IN VERITATE" (CHARITY AND TRUTH)

USCCB on "social justice" They love socialism because a) they simply are incapable of understanding the work ethic and the concept of reaping the rewards of your own labor, Members of the Catholic and other clergy don't have to labor for a living or starve.

They live in sort of a socialist microcosm where the donated wealth of the parishoners is distributed as the clergy think best If you think, as they and the Democrats do, that everything is given to you, that wealth is distributed not earned, then redistributing it to what seems to them to be more equitable is reasonable. Never mind that some people work and others don't. In the religious view of life all wealth is a gift from God, so the wealthy should simply give away their resources to the indolent to waste so that it all equals out in the end. and socialism promises equal misery to everyone - from each according to his ability. To each according to his need. It's kind of rough on the ones with the ability isn't it.
