At the age of 70, holding the toughest job in the world, being shot in the chest with a bullet one inch from his heart, Ronald Reagan did not resign. Instead he reenlisted for 4 more years.

Leadership is Honor Courage and COMMITMENT.

Leadership is doing what is right.

Was it right for her to remain a lightning rod to keep the Governor’s office tied up because the DNC has targeted her for annihilation and would take the State down with it?

Oh, I guess it is better to stick it out for your OWN POLITICAL AGENDA AND TO HECK WITH THE WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE STATE????

This was probably the most courageous action I have ever seen.

I too love Ronald Reagan. But these are not the same times. The nation needs a beaon of hope, and Sarah should not be sitting in Alaska letting the world from down under take pot shots at her.

Sarah is simply taking the battle to the enemy, instead of remaining behind the walls of her post. This makes her a lot like Ronald Reagan.

Sarah has sallied!

And that excuse for a president now in office will begin to unravel as Sarah gains momentum in the lower 48.

Reagan started running for president in 1968 while governor
of California...I doubt he would have kept the governor’s job if he had won the first time.

Sometimes leadership is about punching out of the box to which you've been relegated, crossing the Yukon, and taking the battle to the enemy, which in this case is the accumulated machines of the Democrats, Republicans, and MSM. I'd call that one heck of a commitment. We're in a whole new era of politics, and Gov. Palin needs some elbow room that she doesn't have with the "Gov." in front of her name.

I prefer to wait and see what she is up to before I critique her.

While Reagan was attacked by the media, his family was pretty much ignored.

That has not been the case with Sarah Palin. In addition to attacking her directly, the media and entertainment world have targeted her family in a very rude & crude manner.

A mother’s first instinct is to protect her family, no matter the circumstances.

As governor, Sarah Palin’s family would remain a target and fair game because she is a public official.

As a private citizens, she has removed her family from the firing line.

Yep, and Sarah, by resigning from her office is exhibiting all three.

She has honor; she hasn't deviated from her values.
She has COURAGE; she hasn't wilted from the almost daily attacks on her and her family.
She has COMMITMENT; she told the people of Alaska she would work for THEM. By resigning, she's saving the taxpayers of AK millions in wasted money by removing herself as a target of frivilous lawsuits which were only begun in September, when she became an active Veep candidate.

Sarah recognized that the longer she stayed in office, the longer the lawsuits would continue, and any good work she wanted to do would be overshadowed, if not thwarted, by them. By turning over the office to the Lt. Gov. who has been working with her on the good work she's been able to do so far, she knows that work will continue, but he won't be having to spend his time or his staff's time to fend off lawsuits, because they were aimed at HER personally, NOT as her work as Governor.

When being destroyed by Chicago style politics, and being made ineffective for the job you were hired to do, some times you have to change the deck. What is the most important commitment, the job of Govener or the salvation of the USA?

You know, when sneaking through the bush hunting a Grizzly there can come that moment when you realize the Bear is not where you thought. At that moment the hunter becomes the hunted. Hope zero is not stupid enough to celebrate yet.

General Washington retreated across the Delaware River.

The Brits retreated from Dunkirk.

The Red Army retreated to Stalingrad

Napoleon retreated to Egypt before defeating the Turks.

At Corunna, Spain, the British in heavy retreat turned on
the French army and routed them.

Even Attila the Hun had to retreat once.

And Ronald Reagan, God bless him, retreated
from Lebanon and regrouped.

I don’t know if Sarah Palin is exactly retreating, but she is certainly regrouping.
