10. TAXES: As the Governor of Massachusetts, you raised "fees" (taxes) by nearly $730 million. In fact, at a 2008 presidential debate, you said that it's appropriate for governments to charge fees and provide services. And, in 2007, at a campaign event in Iowa, you called flat taxes "unfair." 8. CLIMATE CHANGE: In 2008, you told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that "there’s nothing wrong with dealing with global warming." Of course, it's okay with you as long as it's done on a "global" scale. Oh, and in 2004, as Governor of Massachusetts, you introduced the Massachusetts Climate Protection Plan, a package of policies that acknowledged the existence of anthropogenic global warming. In 2007, you told The San Franciso Chronicle that illegal aliens needed to register with the government so that some could return home while others received legal status. SOCIALIST ECONOMIC STIMULUS & FINANCIAL SERVICES BAILOUT: In January 2009, while Obama, Pelosi, and Reid were offering the now infamous Porkulus Maximus, you offered a smaller $250 million stimulus proposal. [McCain offered a slightly larger proposal of nearly $450 million.] Nonetheless, government intervention in the economy is decidedly contradictory to the conservative principles of small, limited, Constitutional government. [Never mind that Romney Care forced decisions on individuals residing in Massachusetts.] Oh, and your health care plan formed the basis for Obama's Socialist health care "reform." No - what I am saying is that I respect a persons choice, that choice may not be my cup of tea (ie Holy Rollers, Snake handlers, TV Preachers, Amish, Mennonites, etc,etc) But I respect that choice and defend their freedom to that choice. That also means I observe what a person does, comment on that. Bashing Mitt as a christless mormon (and I have heard/seen worse) kinda makes that whole freedom of religion thing sound a tad thin, eh? I also have to wonder what folks outside of the US think when they see the level of religious bigotry displayed across the web.

Completely lame. McQueeg's campaign could creditably be argued as one that he intentionally tried to lose. His debate performances were horrible. He never fought or once called 0bama out as the Marxist he was. He criticized anyone who used BHO's middle name [note: McQueeg, did you hear the name zer0 used at inauguration?].
Don't pin that loss on Sarah Palin; she prevented it from being the greatest landslide ever.

There are/have been many African American Catholic Bishops (^). There are black Saints (^), black Martyrs (^) and black Cardinals (^), too. Cardinal Francis Arinze was a very close adviser to Pope John Paul II, and was considered to be on the "short list" to replace the Holy Father when he died. There have been three Popes from Africa (don't know if they were black or not, though).
There are tons of African American Baptists. If I recall correctly, Justice Clarence Thomas was Baptist before becoming Catholic, and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was Baptist, too.
But that isn't the point. Nothing in Baptist Theology or Catholic Theology says that blacks are an inferior race, which is what Mormonism taught and which Mitt Romney followed until 1978. So while it may be a non-starter to you, it isn't to a lot of other people who wonder why anyone would belonged to a church which officially held that blacks are inferior.

I find that offensive as well. There is a huge difference though, between vague, untrue, and nasty insults ("Jews run the banks") and a specific, true point ("Mormons didn't allow blacks to participate fully in their church until 1978").
The difference - that one is demonstrably, historically true, is an acceptable metric for judging the thought process of someone who would be a member of that organization.

As a Catholic, I don't agree with Mormonism, but have found most of it's followers to be sincerely nice people who honor the concepts of family, home, and who tend to live clean and modest lives.
I hope this didn't come off as bashing Mormons, because I have nothing against Mormons as a group of people, though I do disagree with their faith on many points, just as they disagree with me on many points of mine.

You’ve been reading the handful of posts — out of 10s of thousands over the years — that my sick little stalker dug through and posted out of context.
One could just as easily cherry-pick a half doze comments that made me look like the biggest McCain or Romney hater around, too. I’ve had some pretty critical things to say about both, and if you cared to do your own research, you’d see that.
I am not a Mormon, and I think they’re about theologically equal to Muslims or Hindus or Scientologists or any other non-Christian religion. Still, as a nation, we have never had a religious test for public office, and I don’t think now is a good time to start. My point was, there are plenty of good reasons to oppose Romney without even looking at his religious beliefs.
