Rove: Palin's resignation lacks clear strategy
CNN - Political Ticker ^ | 2009-07-05

(CNN) — The "architect" of George W. Bush's successful presidential campaigns has questions about Sarah Palin's resignation as governor.

"It's a risky strategy," Republican campaign mastermind Karl Rove told "Fox News Sunday."

Palin's unexpected announcement Friday that she will step down with 18 months left in her first term has left many in her party "a little perplexed," said Rove, whom Bush dubbed "The Architect" for managing his two victorious campaigns in 2000 and 2004.

I haven’t had much use for Rove. I always thought he was over-rated.

So his comments here are of no value to me. He’s missed wide so many times, his voice means little to me if he agrees with my views or not.

In fact, if he agrees with me, it’s a good reason to re-evaluate my position.

The last thing Palin needs is a bunch of worshipping Yes-men like we have here on FR.

No of course not, what ever would the condescending anklebiters such as yourself ever do with all your spare time.

Why don't you just go paste this same drivel on the rest of the Palin threads. Oh never mind, you probably already have.

Here's something else I've always found annoying.

He's... The "architect" of George W. Bush's successful presidential campaigns...

Would those be the campaigns where he eeked out a win by the slimest of margins over fringe candidates like Gore and Kerry.

For heaven's sake, if you can't beat this level of opponent by more than a whisker, you have to be a master at screwing up royally.

The following is directed to Freepers who haven't signed up for monthlies...

10% is good.  100% is better.  Let's go Freepers.

Thanks to Freepers who have been frequenting the Freepathon thread to ham it up with folks over there.  It helps to raise the visibility of the Freepathon.

Unless of course you think she's infallible.

Nope, but she really doesn't need advice from the losers. His performance on Fox News Sunday, was condescending at best, proving that he either does not like her, or worse he clearly doesn't understand what she stated clearly on the 3rd and 4th.

Perhaps, you don't either.

“Well we all see where Roves strategy took us?”

Exactly.

Note to Rove: Jeb is not going to be nominated.

Also, if Palin were nominated he’d be the first to recalibrate his writings and claim credit for her win and then off his services to her. In the meantime, he’ll pontificate about how “dumb” Palin is and push for a RINO establishment to run us further aground in the Sea of Socialism.

Rove was nothing more than a vote counter, thus his ridiculous attempts at winning hispanic voters via supporting illegal immigration.

(wow....picked at a scab did I?) What are you like 13 years old?

There are people on here calling Rove a traitor to the country and all kinds of names just because he doesn see a stratagy in her actions. How could he? its just an interview question he answered honestly.

Well what is “slander”? Therein lies your problem. For a public figure like Palin, hardly anything can be categorized as actionable slander. I’m a free speech guy. Unless a MSM outlet publishes a negative story that proves to be demonstrably and maliciously false, (a la Dan Rather), I think it’s all pretty much fair game. There is a lot of smoke coming from Camp Palin on a whole host of issues, and I think she’s done a lousy job refuting such rumors or proving them wrong.

The worst of it was Andrew Sullivan’s allegations that Palin faked her most recent pregnancy. Pretty awful stuff. But Sullivan is a blogger, not MSM, and Palin failed to release her medical records (after she promised she would) unlike the other Prez and VP candidates. We never received an explanation.

Misinformation about a candidate should be immediately refuted with facts. But Palin hasn’t exactly equipped her supporters with the ammo to take on such attacks. All we get are vague and contradicting explanations. Which would lead reasonable people to believe there is at least SOME truth to said allegations.

I absolutely love Sarah’s positions on the issues, and I appreciate her “star power” and everything that entails. I have serious doubts about some of her past actions, both political and personal. And I refuse to give blind allegiance to any politician, unlike many here.

I was inclined to write Rove off as a nutcase after he predicted a solid Obama victory last October. But he nailed the electoral vote pretty well. I’ve learned not to automatically dismiss his words of advice — he’s a pretty smart cookie.

Having said that, I sorely hope he’s wrong in this case!!

Ron Paul, although I disagree with him MOST of the time, is knowledgeable, intelligent, and can back his positions up with substance. I just don’t see that with Palin. I think she’s sharp on energy and some social issues, like abortion and gay marriage. Other than that? Not so much.

Nor does Ron Paul bring a circus side-show of ethical and personal controversy to the table.

Sarah Palin: Happy 4th of July!

On this Independence Day, I am so very proud of all those who have chosen to serve our great nation and I honor their selflessness and the sacrifices of their families, too.

If I may, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the last 24 hours and share my thoughts with you.

First, I want to thank you for your support and hard work on the values we share. Those values led me to the decision my family and I made. Yesterday, my family and I announced a decision that is in Alaska’s best interest and it always feels good to do what is right. We have accomplished more during this one term than most governors do in two – and I am proud of the great team that helped to build these wonderful successes. Energy independence and national security, fiscal restraint, smaller government, and local control have been my priorities and will remain my priorities.

For months now, I have consulted with friends and family, and with the Lieutenant Governor, about what is best for our wonderful state. I even made a few administrative changes over that course in time in preparation for yesterday. We have accomplished so much and there’s much more to do, but my family and I determined after prayerful consideration that sacrificing my title helps Alaska most. And once I decided not to run for re-election, my decision was that much easier – I’ve never been one to waste time or resources. Those who know me know this is the right decision and obvious decision at that, including Senator John McCain. I thank him for his kind, insightful comments.

The response in the main stream media has been most predictable, ironic, and as always, detached from the lives of ordinary Americans who are sick of the “politics of personal destruction”. How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it’s about country. And though it’s honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make. But every American understands what it takes to make a decision because it’s right for all, including your family.

I shared with you yesterday my heartfelt and candid reasons for this change; I’ve never thought I needed a title before one’s name to forge progress in America. I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint. I hope you will join me. Now is the time to rebuild and help our nation achieve greatness!

God bless you! And I look forward to making a difference – with you!

Scare? Not really. More like saddens me.

Blind hero worship is a bad thing for the conservative movement.

“Sarah’s resignation was a little too abrupt for me, though, I truly admire her...hhhmmmmm...”

Agree.
I hope she knows what she is doing....

You are correct. Sarah is a conservative first. Her statement the other day indicated supporting anyone that meets that message “regardless of party or no party at all”.

You must have a pretty small universe of people to speak with.

I think you captured the Ron Paul crowd perfectly with that phrase.

That is as vague as can possibly be, and he stated as such. She didnt indicate a clear strategy. What shes done hasnt been done often at her level and so its everyones guess what her intentions were for now.

What are you gonna do genius if she never runs? Blow up? Bang your head and scream at other conservatives?

Is there anything at all that she could say or do that you would state a disagreement with? If no is the answer youre no different than the Obama idiots.

Shes already made mistakes and will make many more. She doesnt need you to cover for her, shes very capable of defending herself.

I am beginning to think that some of the trolls Mr. Soros hired to dusrupt this site are being paid to spout unintelligible nonsense like your post.

It shows that you have very little grasp of History, Statistics, the English language and elementary logic. But, you do an admirable job of setting up an absurd strawman and then not quite demolishing it.

Your check is in the mail.

For the record, Rove said she didn’t HAVE a strategy, not that he couldn’t see one. Big diff.
