Weary Palin seeks to regain control

Why did Sarah Palin step down?

Theories abound. But some of the people closest to the Alaska governor say she wanted to regain control of a political script that slipped out of her hands the moment she burst onto the national stage. She also wanted to shield herself and her family from the attacks that seem to have been aimed permanently at them in the 311 days since Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) announced her as his running mate, according to some former campaign aides and other advisers who speak regularly with Palin or her husband, Todd.

The Sarah Palin who stood outside her Wasilla, Alaska, lakefront home Friday to surrender her term with 18 months remaining appeared vulnerable and anything but the pugnacious hockey mom and combative candidate whom Americans came to either adore or revile. The woman who said she would never blink suddenly...

If she thinks leaving politics will halt the attacks, she is gravely mistaken... As payback for that, she will be hounded for the rest of her life.

Once a political opponent is "killed" - out of politics, deemed to be unelectable to any office in this life, like George Allen and Rick Santorum - the conservative is pretty much left alone to earn a living and be a private citizen, even permitted to comment on politics, just not participate. If Sarah does that, she and her family will be fine.

the poster is an Obama troll . Palin had the decency to leave office so she would not be abusing the Gov office while running for Pres unlike this poster's Messiah who s held a national office for one year and then spend 3 years away from it running for Pres but getting paid nicely in our DIME !

Looks like PMSNBC thinks Palin is still going to be a player.

I think that there is a very good chance that she will be. Her speech on Friday contained a number of messages that seemed to indicate it, although I confess that I am hoping she will.

I don’t know.

Your full of crap. Your an Obama troll. Palin did not want to abuse her office while running for higher office unlike your Messiah who abuse his position while running for office by getting paid to not show up and vote !

I will vote for the GOP candidate no matter what...hoping it’s someone I like. The stakes are very high in 2012. I do think Palin’s resignation makes it less likely she will be the GOP nominee.

I have been here many years...so quit with the name calling. As for Palin running for higher office...maybe she should have done the honorable things served out her term and begun running in 2010...plenty of time. You all can make excuses for behavior in a Dem, you would rightfully condemn, I can’t do this. Right is right and wrong is wrong period.

Yes, normally that is the case. But Sarah is different. She threatened the supremacy of “The One”. As a result, she will be hounded by the Left until they find her face down in the gutter, mumbling incoherently, clutching a bottle of paint thinner. And even then, they might keep it up.

I will vote for the GOP candidate no matter what...

Well, the Left can now tick you off their list of any potential opposition to their agenda.

Ugly rumors? It’s all over the place-including posts on Free Republic. What now we can’t even discuss issues or have opinions?

I think she will be active in causes she deeply cares about. I also believe she has given up her political ambitions for the sake of her family. The horrid and unethical treatment of her children by the MSM as well as by bloggers on the left made it impossible for any mother who loved her children to remain in the national spotlight.

I think you've nailed it except for one thing - not impossible by ANY mother, but any CONSERVATIVE mother... None of this applies to liberals or progressives because they play by an entirely different set of rules. Conservatives still pretend that the political race is for the job both candidates are seeking; progressives play to destroy the opponent and render him unable to run for any political race ever again.

The Supreme court hangs in the balance...it’s not the time for third party. Now is the time to stop the Dems...by electing GOP...hopefully conservative GOP.

Look, I want to win...it was heart breaking and extremely damaging to the country to lose this last election. Unless the GOP reforms the primary system so that liberal states no longer determine our candidates, I will have to vote for whoever is the GOP candidate (chosen by others mainly). The primary is basically over when it comes to my state.

Like I said. If you’ve already said that you’ll take whatever they give you, they’ll give you whatever they want. And I assure you, it won’t be conservative by any stretch of the imagination.

it’s not the time for third party

Then why is the Republican Party working so hard to become one?

Please spare me your lies . You would have attack Palin for running for Pres while being Governor if she went that route. You’d rather she was tied warding off not stop ethics charges by Your Messiah and his Astroturfing specialists and non stop Ethics articles by the Obama state media . She has made a great move that SCARES YOU and YOUR Fellow Obama travelers here ! She is free now to attack freely her Obama state media and Obama trolls in the lower 48 state time zone and that ticks YOU OFF !

Once the opponent is politically dead, they move on to the next conservative. No sense wasting resources on a former opponent who has left the scene and is forgotten. It may be that we are moving on to the next stage, the one that Stalin and others carried out by actually physically killing their opponents. That remains to be seen, but for now “death” is simply political annihilation.

Can’t a conservative be as cynical to a conservative even just once as they frequently are to liberals?

How much salary was she getting as governor of Alaska? How much does her husband make? Were these jobs not enough to cover legal expenses? Couldn’t she have fought only the serious charges against her if there were any and not the frivilous and nutty ones?
