Here are some pics from the Pittsburgh July 4th, 2009 Tea Party.
A half hour before the rally at Flagstaff hill, Schenley Park
My wife and a friend of mine from Ohio. I grew up with him...ummm... a log time ago, LOL!

My wife and I with our Gadsden.

The crowd begins to build.
Opening prayer.

The Star Spangled Banner.

Signs and Gadsdens everywhere.

More signs.

And MORE!

More.

Last one.

Around 2,000 people showed up, about what I expected. I'd rather have 2k passionate Patriots than 10 thousand indifferent people.
Beautiful day, but a little chill in the air. Event ran around 2 hours.
Just before things were to start the announcement was made that people parking in front of the hill had to move because those spots are reserved for Phipps Conservatory.
That caused a delay and the parking was a problem. Very nice are though.
It was also pointed out that the Tea Party was refused the parking areas between Heinz Field and PNC Park because of the Three Rivers Regatta.
IMO that would be a much better venue as was the Easter Weekend Party at Allegheny Landing. Parking for Allegheny Landing isn't easy either though.
The Parking lots would be best but I think "politics" will be involved in keeping the Tea Party from that area.
All in all a nice event but we'll need more promotion and turnout, especially in the fall.

Great job!
BTW-I just watched channel4 news and not only did they have decent coverage, there was no bias. They stated it was a “Peaceful protest” against the policies of the Obama administration AND congress. Maybe the Susan Roesgen (sp?) of CNN and the corresponding backlash is making the media think for a change!1

Whoa...I'm at work and decided to put on CNN to see what was being reported so I missed WTAE. I saw WPXI there but they didn't seem to be doing much.

I just noticed the one pic I wanted to make sure posted didn't. So here it is. This is when the crowd was beginning to build.

Nice shot of Pitt's Cathedral of Learning in the background. I went there for a couple of years and have been to the top.
The host for the event was Glen Meakem (who will be filling in for Quinn next week. He's seated with his hand shading his eyes from the sun. Seated next to him and in the black jacket is Grover Nordquist, President of Americans for Tax reform.

Wish I could have been there today. :-(

My wife and I were there. It was very hard to find a parking space.
Thanks for the pics.

Evening rwi! Yuppers it was a nice event. My son's were both supposed to go but couldn't because things came up at the last minute for both. One had forgotten about a prior commitment and the other had to go to his great uncle's house for something.
See yunz Monday na't on the Quinn and Rose thread!

Parking was a problem. That's one of the reasons I wasn't thrilled about Flagstaff hill but all in all it was a great event.
