There have been a number of seminal queries which our elders used to define game-changing moments in Americas cultural evolution. Where were you when JFK was shot? Where were you when Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon? For me, although it will likely wind up as a Trivial Pursuit bonus round question, one of the treasured turning points may well be: Where were you when Sarah Palin decided to commit political suicide?
The odd thing is that I was up in the mountains, forcing myself into a period of decompression from the political theater. I likely wouldnt have even known that Governor Palin had decided to resign her office had I not been taking time out from fruitless bass fishing to moderate the chat for Ed Morrisseys daily show.
The first questions arose in a predictable pattern, since initial reports were grossly lacking in detail. The most horrific scenarios dominated: Was she sick? Was there some tragedy unfolding with her family? The second, and more likely scenario in my view, was that a clever reporter had finally unearthed a bit of discomfiture and asked the governor for comment. In that case, the pending resignation would prove to be a preemptive move to circle the wagons and prepare for the onslaught to come. When an elected official spends so much time and money fighting allegations of ethical misconduct, it should hardly come as a surprise if one of them stuck to the wall...

I didn’t realize that there were so many drama queens in the matrix. Why aren’t these people enjoying the 4th of July holiday. I think people need to get a life and get over their extreme obsession with Sara Palin.
Sara is just fine...whatever she does or doesn’t do is okay with me....I like her and respect her and nothing the twits or bloggies or news hacks say will ever change that...
Get over it already...
more like the Himalayas- he was standing on Everest and lost brain cells along with oxygen
With all this “political suicide” drivel floating about, above it all, a picture comes to mind. I see a bunch of naked politicians, Democrats and Republicans, swimming about in blissful ignorance - with the theme from “Jaws” playing in the background.
Kinda like Dagny when the Taggart Tunnel collapsed.
There was nothing in her statement about going bankrupt. And there is a legal defense fund up and running. Not to mention her futures earnings (books, speeches, etc.) will easy cover any expenses she incurs now.
And the media stinks, but the media has been that way towards countless conservative and Republican politicians who didn’t resign because of it.
George Bush did not have the easiest time, what would people think if he quit? They would say he is weak and can’t take the heat. She was governor for 2 1/2 years and couldn’t handle it. She just quit politics, the GOP will use her in the elections as a speaker to rally the base for other candidates. She will be in politics but on the sidelines.
That's definitely gonna' cut down on your quality fishing time.
Sarah did make enemies, she made enemies because she helped to clean up a corrupt system, in Alaska.
Obama is PART of a corrupt system in Chicago.
Obama is now PART of a corrupt system, in Washington, D.C. Palin has not "died by the sword" --- far from it! Palin is about to plant HER sword deep into the very heart of the Communist Democrat Party!
Another Dead Fish? No wonder Obama is POTUS.
Go back to DU, commie!
You would think that the global warming kooks would have to PRAISE Sarah, for the reduction in her “carbon footprint” -— don’t hold your CO2 filled breath for THAT to happen!
“There was nothing in her statement about going bankrupt. And there is a legal defense fund up and running. “
Of course there was no statement about going bankrupt...what’s the usual outcome of having to spend more than you bring in? Unless you get an Obama bailout???? Hmm?
Yes, there is a legal defense fund...which she was being slammed with ethical charges over.
This woman, like anyone who tries to do the right thing, is damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t.
PREDICTION: We’re going to be a *lot more* of Sarah Palin on the talk show circuit. The book deals alone will energize her more than the governorship of Alaska would.
It's long overdue to file charges against the fat redhead. Or "set charges" (bwahahahahahaha)
“if you notice she does not have many Republican defenders.”
Eff Establishment politicians. I’m a conservative...and Palin has lots of conservative supporters.
Just keep watching and learn. Palin will draw thousands to midterm candidates and she will dominate the primaries.
Here’s a bio on Ari J Kaufman....... He writes and scatters it amongst the internet. I don’t know if the print media has anything to do with him.

That's where that whole Brown County, Monroe County, Morgan County and Green County Indiana settlers originally put down roots ~ even established a little Church of the First Born at the end of the road.
You know anything about that? Need some history.
Google: sarah palin federal indictment
July 4th
I still say she resigned for the good of the people of her state, whether or not she intends to seek another office notwithstanding.
