There have been a number of seminal queries which our elders used to define game-changing moments in Americas cultural evolution. Where were you when JFK was shot? Where were you when Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon? For me, although it will likely wind up as a Trivial Pursuit bonus round question, one of the treasured turning points may well be: Where were you when Sarah Palin decided to commit political suicide?
The odd thing is that I was up in the mountains, forcing myself into a period of decompression from the political theater. I likely wouldnt have even known that Governor Palin had decided to resign her office had I not been taking time out from fruitless bass fishing to moderate the chat for Ed Morrisseys daily show.
The first questions arose in a predictable pattern, since initial reports were grossly lacking in detail. The most horrific scenarios dominated: Was she sick? Was there some tragedy unfolding with her family? The second, and more likely scenario in my view, was that a clever reporter had finally unearthed a bit of discomfiture and asked the governor for comment. In that case, the pending resignation would prove to be a preemptive move to circle the wagons and prepare for the onslaught to come. When an elected official spends so much time and money fighting allegations of ethical misconduct, it should hardly come as a surprise if one of them stuck to the wall...

economy has gone bye bye for some time now.....
In my opinion, the mistake some are making is underestimating the strength and determination of Sarah Palin. If you think she “can’t take the heat”, then you don’t know our Governor very well. She may be pissed off, and rightly so, but she’s a fighter.
Now I’m not saying she’ll run, and I’m not saying she’d win if she did. What I am saying is that folks here aren’t giving her nearly enough credit. Typical b.s. by our fellow conservatives here and those in office....claiming to want a TRUE conservative, but when presented with one, they join the Left in assaulting their character and potential.
“I think she could eat Obamas lunch in a debate on the economy today!”
No doubt about that.
Thanks for the news flash. /s
Conservatives, in their desperation for a leader, have created a fictional Sarah Palin - an omnipotent ultra-Reagan bearing no resemblance to the real-life governor of Alaska. No wonder the lady wants nothing to do with politics any more. She can no more live up to that ideal than she can overcome the full weight of an MSM determined to Quayleize her.
While I’m not questioning her character, one has to admit that this is a peculiar move. I understand not running for reelection but to resign before completing one term cannot, cannot be construed as a positive. Some people on here are willing to rationalize this but it will be used as a sledgehammer against her in any future political campaign.
Something is up.
Palin critics have only feelings behind their comments. No brains. No real criticism. Starting with Charles Kroithanger, the blithering idiot.
NNoN
Heres a bio on Ari J Kaufman
Looks like a foot-soldier of the left.
There have been horrid insults about Chelsea for years here.
Agree with dalebert. There were occasional jibes, but Chelsea has nothing to complain about - see Helen Thomas or Cynthia McKinney
McKinney ran for public office..(unfortunately) and Thomas is in the public eye. The criticism of Chelsea has been brutal and cruel. I would defend the children of Palin, Bush and Obama in the same manner. But nothing I have seen compares to the savaging of Chelsea. Though many in the press were so unfair to the Bush twins who are also lovely, bright young ladies. They deserved better.
Googled it sufficiently to see that the source was Shannyn Moore, notorious leftist anti-Palin blogger.
Only if she was giving up on politics.
2010 elections are only 15 months away. Pretty soon she had to either start running for reelection or annouce she wasn't. In either event that hamstrings her until January 2011.
By that time people who aren't Sarah Palin will have set the agenda for 2012.
Now he can devote himself, full-time, to being a liberal shmuck.
Conservatives are really bad at politics and government. Great at business and science though.
Palin will be campaigning for the midterm Republicans and will draw huge crowds and big money. This is an asset nobody in the GOP can match.
You will see the liberal media doing big stories on this once it is completed. You will see Establishment Republicans, forgetting their faulty analysis and suggesting that she has momentum and need insider advice (that means they want hired as consultants lol).
Somebody is advising Palin in a very professional manner at this time, because in Alaska, her campaign was going nowhere.
She had a plan. I am sure of it. She can lead and that is saying something. I predict a book and a new national move that will go outside the box. Maybe a 3rd Party? Maybe something more profound—a revival of all thats great in America—a political/religious movement to re-awaken the sleeping Christian Right Wing. We have not seen the last of Palin and when she comes out it will be as a battleship slipping out of the fog with all of her 16 inch guns blazing. The Liberals who sought to ruin her with the “death of 1000 cuts” will be on the receiving end of her wrath. I will join her crusade at the drop of a hat.
I'm pretty sure the FR rules page says don't post and run.
My point was that is ALL this poster does! Page after page of nothing but posts with no comment.
