POLITICO: Palin plans to stay visible
Politico ^ | 7/3/2009 | Mike Allen

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin plans to remain extremely visible and will give serious consideration to running for president in 2012, but has made no decision, a close friend said after her startling announcement Friday that she will resign her office.

Friends say Palin plans to spend time writing her book, which is due this fall, then promote it heavily when it comes out in spring 2010.

Palin is by far the Republican Party's biggest draw for fund-raisers and conservative events, and the friends say she plans to spend a lot of time traveling in "the lower 48" states, as Alaskans call the continental U.S.

Those friends say she plans to give a series of paid speeches, and will also make free GOP appearances, raising money for the party and for issues. She also plans to help other candidates, collecting political IOUs for herself.

DailyKos schmucks are saying Palin is about to be Federally indicted for a John Rowland-type home construction favor.

Let them drool in their basements. We're hitting the streets. (And when WE hit the streets, they retreat.)

In politics, timimng is everything. It simply doesn’t look good resigning from a job to campaign for some other office 3 years away.

Absolutely true. That was my first reaction. But there's more to it than that.

If she thinks she is going to start running for 2012 from no onwards then it is ridiculous, I dont think Palin is that stupid, it is clear that she has given up on a political career.

Sarah Palin Outsmarts the Left

And GregH too.

He is a former Washington Post reporter so I give him little to no credence but decided to give him props when he is right this time.

Been doing a lot of that recently — if they write an article that is fair, I send an email to thank them for being unbiased and am just as quick to send them an email telling them they are wrong.

You said it, it’s way above your head, apparently.

I agreed that the penultimate sentence in your post was correct. But you are using “quit” pejoratively, and that makes it clear that you have no idea what she is actually doing or why.

But say and think what you want. I’ve no more time for you.

I guess it depends on what the meaning of “quit” is, right, Billy?

I have read many of the comments here and have my own take on this.
Firstly Sarah did not quit because she was hiding anything or in trouble.
The plain and simple fact of the matter is that she was being attacked left and right by people using the system in 15 separate complaints of ethics violations. It cost them nothing to do this and they were trying to reign her in. It cost her a bundle that she did not have.
She needed to get away from that which was dragging her down on an endless basis and taking her out of the picture while defending herself.

She is a REAL leader with morals which most of us can’t recognize today, which is why her move is not appreciated immediately. She is not motivated by greed or power.

Does she have a chance in 2012 considering that she is not really part of the republican machine? Can she raise enough money to compete with Zero for the WH?
The answer is YES if she so chooses. Read the posts people.
So many of us were disgusted with our “choice” of McCain. Then he himself either trashed or allowed her to be trashed. People are talking about getting out of the GOP.
(Which I highly discourage – I’ll explain)

Can she deal with the Media and will they continue to trash her if she goes after Obama?
YES again. As a matter of fact the MSM may end up being her very best friend and toss zero under the bus.

Now consider this. Zero is upsetting the MSM, it was seen this week by press in the WH when they realized that they were getting second hand treatment when zero put his own people in the press for questions. They got mad, like jilted lovers.
They will have plenty of ammo to use on him when the love affair comes to an end and it will. The worse things get financially, the more debate there is and the more Obama shows them disrespect, the less they will bow to him. It will happen. With Obama’s policies the market will tank. People will be paying more for everything and Americans are getting quite disgruntled it is right there in the polls. The MSM relies on the public to survive. Eventually they will have to follow Fox and start reporting negatively on Obama.
Look how many loyal Freepers just don’t understand what she is doing. Why is that? Because she is not playing a political game. Even we are unaccustomed to seeing that in a politician. The MSM will eventually see it for what it is, though it will take longer.

On the scene is Sarah. She is down to earth and they will re-examine her and with enough pressure they will compare and contrast her to the TOTUS and his wife who are both radicals.

That comparison is what we need. That is exactly why the republicans will fall in behind her. Republicans have been trying to placate to the middle and keep losing. Now they will see that being more conservative will get them what they want. Votes.

We need to maintain our republican ties through registration so that if / when she decides to run we can support her in primaries and battle ACORN in the polls so we don’t get screwed with McCain again who will run.

The Money issue. Well I saw one comment that said “If she runs for POTUS, I will donate serious $$$ to a political candidate for the FIRST time in my 50 yrs. What does that say!” I feel the very same way (47 years).
Palin can beat Obama in the very same way that he beat McCain, grassroots.

Forget the trolls. We need to get our government back to it’s founding principles. People will be and already are fed up with this nonsense of apologies, everyone should be poor, share the wealth and rush it through rubber stamping politics.

Palin is now taking the steps to make the grass roots movement; make some money to campaign without ethics violations, in an honest manner.
Stand behind her, send her an –email and encourage her to remain vigilant to “US” send her a tweet on twitter at AKGovSarahPalin
Follow her and see what she says.

WE are her grassroots .. even if she uses this time to get behind someone else and support them, do it. She can help greatly in 2010. If she hits the primaries herself for 2012, then we know and can support her with all we have.

I apologize for the rant, but make no mistake about it. Today being July 4 we are in for the fight of our lives like none has ever seen since 1776 for our Republic. This war may not be fought with guns, but our new General can be Palin.

“The hour is fast approaching, on which the Honor and Success of this army, and the safety of our bleeding Country depend. Remember officers and Soldiers, that you are Freemen, fighting for the blessings of Liberty - that slavery will be your portion, and that of your posterity, if you do not acquit yourselves like men.” —George Washington, General Orders, August 23, 1776

Conventional wisdom dictates that Palin is not well positioned for 2012 because of her decision to resign from her role as a governor, you can think otherwise but it is not based on rational arguments.

Glad to see you on this thread.

Remember the posts you made this past week on the thread about Gov Palin's visit to the USS Stennis. A 2 star Admiral personally escorting her out to the ship. This might be a good place to repost it here.

Here is my argument for what it is worth.
If she stayed on through 2010, she can not help retake the congress. She will continue to be bled dry of money through more nonsense ethics violations that did not happen.
Her popularity is greater than ever before and she can maintain a more positive media front now.
Her influence in Alaska grew from this .. see http://tiny.pl/33d8

Now she has time to write a book, make some money, start her grass roots campaign and travel making in roads she could never have done from the governors seat. Not to mention that had she campaigned from Alaska, the msm would have badgered her on that issue alone the entire time.

If she is aiming to help take back Congress in 2010, then it is a possibiilty that she is well positioned for 2012 if she succeeds in that aspect, listening to the tone of her speech it does seem that she is tired of politics in general and wants to take a different quieter role rather than active campaigning.

I politely disagree: she said

“Life is too short to compromise time and resources... it may be tempting and more comfortable to just keep your head down, plod along, and appease those who demand: “Sit down and shut up”, but that’s the worthless, easy path; that’s a quitter’s way out. And a problem in our country today is apathy. It would be apathetic to just hunker down and “go with the flow”.

Nah, only dead fish “go with the flow”.

No. Productive, fulfilled people determine where to put their efforts, choosing to wisely utilize precious time... to build up.

And there is such a need to build up and fight for our state and our country. I choose to fight for it! And I’ll work hard for others who still believe in free enterprise and smaller government; strong national security for our country and support for our troops; energy independence; and for those who will protect freedom and equality and life... I’ll work for and campaign for those proud to be American, and those who are inspired by our ideals and won’t deride them.

I will support others who seek to serve, in or out of office, for the right reasons, and I don’t care what party they’re in or no party at all. Inside Alaska – or Outside Alaska.

But I won’t do it from the Governor’s desk.”

Sounds to me like she is gearing up for the fight of her life.

I was simply reporting that flag officers seem to be developing a sudden interest in this lady and found it unusual that a 2-star Admiral would ride a COD over to Elmendorf to escort her out to the ship.

Here's the link to the post which was a reply to a very interesting post from 'mick'. I might add that Gen. Campbell from the ANG subsequently escorted her to Europe which, from what I can gather from her speech yesterday, had some sort of impact on her decision to resign.

On another note, just heard that the Governor will speak on Aug. 8 at the Simi Valley Republican Women Federated 50th anniversary celebration. She's wasting no time.
