On orders from the Honduran high court, the military removed socialist President Manuel Zelaya from office last weekend to prevent him from shredding the nation's Constitution through an illegal referendum.
Liberal journalists here and abroad insist upon calling it a coup, and it would have been had the military seized control of the government. However, not long after Mr. Zelaya was put on a plane to Costa Rica, the military prepared to stand down, and Hondurans followed the constitutionally prescribed rules of succession by swearing in a new president, Roberto Micheletti, a member Mr. Zelaya's Liberal Party, to complete his term.
So think of the process not as a coup but as Honduran impeachment, minus lies, the wagging finger and the stained dress.
If you want on or off this list, let me know.

The reason the Marxist and socialists are in a tizzy is that their preferred means of coming to power ... namely a military coup has been used by constitutionalist’s to remove their people from power.
I'm willing to bet that when Obama's foreign policy goes south, Hillary is going to get all the blame, and Obama will fire her and find some way to publicly humiliate her.
A lot of other countries don’t have the distinction between the military and law enforcement that we do. Instead of the “military” substitute the words, “national police”.
Yes this is so correct, and thanks for the ping Graybeard.
Our alleged “President” is IMO shocked and nervous as Zelaya’s plan for a Socialist power grab happen to be his plan as well.
His reaction and words tell us more than he thinks.
Restaurant Diner: “That looks good — can I have what they’re having?”
Long live the Honduran freedom fighters, and may their fighting, in-your-face, spirit ignite a renewed spirit of freedom in this country. God Bless them.

I have noticed that local papers including The Oklahoman across America have had editorials that talk about this not being a coup.
Shame the MSM cannot take a cue from papers read by the vast majority of Americans.
He was impeached and removed from office. The Supreme Court acted in concert with the congress. The military refused an illegal order from the president and obeyed an order from the court.
The military did not seize power, not even for one moment.
And the constitutional order was restored. All in all, a happy day.
If the Senate had convicted Bill Clinton in ‘99, who would have “escorted” him out of office? Anybody know?
the coup cooing is just cuckoo.
So the leftists got a taste of their own medicine, and not surprisingly they don’t like it.
Not that that’s a bad or undeserved thing...
That could be the mistake of his life. Here's hoping. ;^)
That has been asked before without an answer. As long he didn't resist I don't think anyone would escort an impeached president out. Zelaya did resist and earlier reports spoke of a brief fight (without gunfire AFAIK) between the military and Zelaya's personal guards. I don't know what his security force consisted of.
Since that situation has never come about here I don't think anyone knows the answer. My guesses are the U.S. Marshall's office, the SS or the FBI.
I don't think an American president has any armed force at his disposal that would put up a fight for him. The SS wouldn't do it in defiance of an order of Congress or the SC. His Marine Honor Guard wouldn't do it. Any private security he has would have to fight the SS, Marine Honor Guard and probably FBI agents. That would be brief.
