General Electric Co. said Friday it will build a $100 million manufacturing technology center in Michigan that will eventually employ about 1,200 workers.

The Advanced Manufacturing and Software Technology Center will include a GE research and development facility with scientists and engineers who will develop manufacturing technologies for GE's renewable energy, aircraft engine, gas turbine and other products.

At one point in his speech (not listed in *this* version of the article) Immelt said "GE had outsourced too much" and "there are no examples of vibrant economies which have outsourced all their manufacturing."

Lies or first glimmer of intelligence?

Or have they figured out that India and China have ZERO intention of purchasing US made goods, and that they only intended to steal our intellectual property and money for infrastructure?

GE="Greedy Executives"

Cheers!

With GE, until recently still carrying out ventures with
Iran, one could call them: G.(I). Enemies.

Ah, the old “Build it, and We will go broke” stategy of the
new, government owned, GM.
What pathetic morons, that inhabit that company.
And, don’t get me started on Chrysler.

Why would GE build anything in a Marxist rathole like Michigan? Guess their CEO likes Marxists.

Anybody who does anything in Michigan is an idiot, unless they are trolling for public funds, in which case, they are a traitor.

This is a government funded goodie from Obama and the Democrats in congress. GE must think that cap and trade is going to pass. National Review: A Garden of Piggish Delights

Yes, they are trolling for public funds. Probably the case with their financial services division as well. Basically another de facto nationalized corporation.

You bet they’re in bed with Obama. This is a kiss (as yet unsigned) to BO for his dogged pursuit of the recent cap + trade legislation for which GE is nicely situated.

“You see...I told we’d create green jobs “

Scam...to the core

Table V: Overall Freedom Ranking

14. Michigan 0.206

Michigan shocked us when it came in first on
economic regulation. It ends up a very solid 14th on
overall freedom (#15 economic, #20 personal). On
fiscal freedom the state does not do very well; in particular, it is a fairly centralized state, and local governments depend heavily on state grants. However,
the state lacks a minimum wage, permits workers’
compensation self-insurance and exempts agricultural
workers from the system altogether, has very
little community rating for health insurance, is better
than average on health insurance mandates, has
deregulated natural gas and telecom, is third best in
the country for fewest licensed occupations, has a
good asset forfeiture regime, and has reformed eminent
domain extensively. Cigarette taxes are high,
but smoking bans offer many exceptions. Sobriety
checkpoints are not authorized.

These jobs will attract loafers, disqualified welfare bums and union fops.

Within one year, half the original hirees wil be collecting workmen’s comp. The shysters and quacks in MI openly brag that, for a price, they can get you on easy street, collecting a lifetime of workmen’s comp.

Any businessman who opens shop in MI is insane.

A study that ranks MI ahead of 35 other states in economic and personal freedom is laughable.

If it’s such a “freedom” state, why have hundreds of thousands of productive citizens fled the state? Why have tens of thousands of businesses packed and left?

And look at Detroit. That’s a real oasis of freedom, right? It’s so full of freedom that it’s lost about 1 million residents.

Sorry, this study is unrefined BS.
