Nobody Boos a Nobody [Fred Malek on Sarah Palin]
Redstate ^ | July 2, 2009 | Fred Malek

Posted on 07/02/2009 12:32:30 PM PDT by Al B.

To summarize baseball legend Reggie Jackson: nobody boos a nobody. That is definitely true in the case of Governor Sarah Palin. I don’t think I am going out on a limb here when I speculate that individuals who repeatedly attack her anonymously view her as a threat. And that includes members of the media hell-bent tearing down young Republican up-and-comers as well as some in Governor Palin’s own party — a party desperately in need of redefining — who are motivated, for whatever reason, to try and crush their rivals.

The most recent and grossly unfair attack came from Vanity Fair magazine. The writer clearly had an unshakable point of view from the start and talked only to those who would criticize. For example, he personally asked me at event preceding the White House Correspondents Dinner if I would talk to him about Governor Palin. I agreed. He didn’t call. He didn’t email. He never once tried to get my take. I also know he never contacted campaign manager Rick Davis, or John McCain.

I have known many political leaders over four decades including all Republican presidents and VPs. I have come to know Sarah Palin over the past year and can state unequivocally that she is smart, curious, hard working, charming, and effective. She also has something her detractors clearly lack – a sense of honor and loyalty.

I know this is petty, but it reminds me of the 2004 presidential election where it was commonplace and accepted in much of the mainstream media to call President Bush stupid and Senator Kerry smart and insightful. At the end of the day, when Senator Kerry finally released his college transcripts, wouldn’t you know: he did quite a bit worse than President Bush.

I have seen Sarah up close with leading heavyweights, and have seen her hold her own and then some. At the dinner at my home referenced in the article, she engaged comfortably and deeply with people ranging from Alan Greenspan to Madeleine Albright to Mitch McConnell. She asked for a foreign policy discussion on her June 7 trip to Washington, and I saw her engage in an informed and spirited manner with Frank Carlucci.

Governor Palin has many admirers and defenders out there who will not allow her to be branded by jealous rivals with their own agenda and the elitists in the national media. I am not sure who the unnamed Vanity Fair sources are, but without question they lack chivalry and have acted in a craven manner. They also lack the facts. I am ashamed of my former campaign colleagues, whoever they are.

john Zeigler really took Mike Allen to task yesterday over his comments on Morning Joe, when Zeigler asked him for specifics to back up his comments he didn’t have any; is it possible he realized he looked like a real jerk and his credibility suffered from this?

I heard Ziegler really humiliated Mike Allen, so you’re probably right.

If you missed it, I highly recommend you go to conservatives4palin and listen to it...It’s in a thread from yesterday along with a great Tammy Bruce tape.

Here is the link to the interview in case you didn't find it: well worth hearing this, to quote Josh Painter, Allen should never again criticize Palin for not being able to do a good interview

As for Roger Simon, I remember seeing him minutes after the VP debate on MSNBC with lardass chris matthews and Simon effusively declared that Governor Palin had wiped the floor with Biden and asserted she had overwhelmingly won. Matthews kept arguing with Simon, trying to dispute him, but Simon wouldn't back down and just laughed in his face and kept saying Governor Palin won hands down.

“He is the biggest rainmaker in the Republican party. “

Exactly right.

The anonymous “Republican” campaign staff will be revealed to Malek and his peers, and will find employment prospects pretty dismal in the future.

who exactly would qualify as competent on foregn policy.

Anyone who genuinely cares about America- it's that dam simple. Anyone who puts America first (and any other democracy with free and fair elections) right next to her, again, real dam simple.

What these monkfarts are doing is deflecting attention from the least qualified foreign policy gasbag to inhabit the office of President- Barry of Kenya.

See, he doesn't really like America. That's why he stinks. His wifey sho' don't like America. That's why she stinks as First Lady.

Many people love Chavez, but for the wrong reasons> he's a dictator, but, he loves Venezuela too (because he get's to be the dictator). These people are guilty of falling in love with an a-hole. Nothing more. A lot of people are guilty of this.

Get to know any of those who proudly display O'ballsless' bumper stickers and you'll likely discover they too, are married to an a-hole. Or, their kids are a-holes. Probably the extended family, too. What will unite them all is a belief that America ain't that great.

And whose fault it that? Why, American government, that's who. They messed with the blueprint and now the foundation is shakey. Enter a radical marxist- stage Left. Couldn't have happened in 'real' America, but we don't live there anymore.

Malek is a big cheese and it's nice of him to speak up but who cares if Palin is so frigging up on every foreign policy nuance

that's just a canard-trap

the media gave not a shite what the fearless community organizer knew about diddly, just that he was part negro and could read a teleprompter cleanly and articulately.

Palin can speak well without a teleprompter, she's hot as all get out and true blue patriot and culture warrior but alas she will have to work on the negro part

anyhow...like Loaf says sorta...3 outta 4 ain't bad

We know who they are. They are the minions of a liberal Republican with the initials MR.

Major bump. Finally, some honorable people from the McCain team are hitting back at the bottom-feeders.

I think this was a very important statement from Fred Malek.

If it's true that the source of these smears against her is from within the GOP, he's sending a clear message that it needs to stop. He is the biggest rainmaker in the Republican party. This guy has been raising money for Republicans since the Nixon era.

I wonder if Malek owns any property in Giddings, Tx :)

Thanks Carolyn,I’ll listen to it today. Should be interesting. Ever since he met the Governor, Ziegler has become a fierce defender.
