Residents Outraged Unborn Child Not Counted as "Person" in Murder Case

FAYETTEVILLE - Under Arkansas law, officials now state Ulmer's unborn child will not count as a "person" in this murder investigation.

Officials say this means Ricky Ray Anderson will not be charged with the alleged murder of Ulmer's child.

According to the state medical examiner's office, Ulmer's unborn baby was 10 weeks old.

And Prosecuting Attorney John Threet says since the unborn child still had two weeks to go before Arkansas law recognizes "it" as a person, Anderson cannot be charged with the murder of Ulmer's unborn child. "If the unborn child is less than 12 weeks, then there's not a homicide charge that can be attached solely for that."

Threet says he believes state laws are just following state abortion laws, since 12 weeks is the first trimester, but says this case may challenge those laws, for the first time. "I think what they're trying to do is remain constitutional in doing that. As far as I know there has never been a challenge to it." And it seems that first challenge could also come in the form of outspoken residents.

I have been a long time reader of this site, but this disgusting story has finally motivated me to sign up and join the cause. I cannot believe that this man is going to get away with the murder of an unborn child! I don't agree with abortion at all, but this is perfectly acceptable because of abortion laws. How can our government stand for this?! I am writing letters to local government as we speak. I can't believe people like nobama can let this happen!

The only thing that makes sense to me is that at conception, the zygote is either a child or something else--If it is not a human child at conception, I don't know what else it could be.

But that's just the way I see things.

If the local officials are following the existing law, then they're doing what you, we, and other lawful citizens normally want. We normally like officials who are likewise lawful.

You can't expect that they'll disregard the law only when you agree with the outcome. So be careful what you wish for.

Continue as you are doing, write to your elected representatives and get the law changed. Protest and make noise and news. Laws don't change by themselves.

And Welcome to FreeRepublic!

FYI, this was the woman who was accidentally shot by the cops who were trying to shoot her boyfriend who was stabbing her at the time.

Strange, sad case.

White woman. Black boyfirend. Mortally stabbed by boyfriend and accidentally shot by cops.

Nothing to see. Move along.

Useless. I live in a state full of liberal morons.

The only thing I can do is debate with friends, family, and acquaintances to try and change their minds about the Kenyan thug and his goons.
