Democracy: Nations aren't usually put to the fearsome test to "live free or die." But Hondurans are accepting it as the world pressures them to reseat a potential dictator in office. They aren't bending. The same day, the Organization of American States gave Honduras three days to reinstall Zelaya as president or its membership would be suspended. The World Bank "paused' lending until Zelaya is back. The Inter American Development Bank followed suit. Standard & Poor's warned of a credit downgrade. Tourists were told by embassies to leave. Three bordering nations cut off trade. Nations pulled ambassadors. Venezuela's despot, Hugo Chavez, cut off cheap oil. He now bucks for an OAS-led military invasion if his leftist pal Zelaya is not restored to power. The U.S. has its own bag of potential sanctions for Honduras, although as new facts emerge about Zelaya's involvement in the drug trade and his mental instability, doesn't look as though it intends to use them. Still, the Sword of Damocles over Honduras could mean a suspended free trade treaty, a cutoff of its $200 million in aid, and an end to its immigration agreement with the U.S. As the world follows Chavez's lead in trying to force Honduras to accept a lawless man as its leader, disasters for Honduras loom.
On Tuesday, all 192 members of the U.N. General Assembly voted to condemn Hondurans' removal of President Mel Zelaya from office. He was ousted this week after brazenly defying a Supreme Court ruling against a reelection referendum. Using the language of the effort's ringleader, Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, the U.N. called the constitutional act "a military coup."

Who would have ever thought that a rebirth of Liberty in the Americas would have started in Honduras?
I can’t see how Honduras can win but I damn sure admire them.
What exactly did he do or not do? When was term supposed to end?
Honduras should appeal to Russia and China for aid. That should fix the idiots we have here in the current administration and the OAS.
Hey Barry, your “meddling” is showing.
Honduras and Iran showing the USA how to stand up to tyrannny while fat lazy Americans watch Michael Jackson specials. Go figure.
God bless them!
Check Keyword “honduras”.
Basically, he tried an illegal mob-rule approach to repealing a Constitutionally-specified term limit.
They can win if they have the will to sacrifice. At this point I think thier will is stronger than most Americans.
Honduras, freedom-loving Americans support you and God bless you and keep interim President Michelette safe! Stay strong, stay free! I wish I could do more personally to help, besides buying their coffee.
Honduras needs to kick the UN out of their country and tell them to stop meddling with their country. Matter of fact, we (USA) should too..
I presume Israel is in that list? France? Germany? Weird.
“We are all Hondurans”
My wife is Honduran, now a natualized US citizen. I went to high school there myself. Here is what you can do:
1- Pray for Honduras. They are the only light of liberty in the Western Hemisphere.
2- INVEST in Honduras. Seek those products made in Honduras.
3- Write you Congresscritters and Seniletors to pass a resolution supporting the legal action taken by the Honduran government to preserve their sovereignty.
4- Support a Honduran missionary financially. They are doing marvelous work in spreading the gospel. And as a byproduct, they have better critical thinking skills than the rest of Latin America.
5- Send letters of encouragement and solidarity to the Honduran embassy.
6- Send encouragement to the Honduran blogs. High morale goes a long, long way.
I need not mention that we have the same remedy in our Constitution that gives the right of the people to remove tyrannical governments. But I just did.
I feel an urge to buy Honduran bananas, coffee and cigars.
Honduras Defends Its Democracy
Honduras Crisis: Zelaya Is A Threat To Our Democracy
The people of Honduras are going to win. The victory will come at the expense of their President who tried to usurp power and Obonga.
The more the truth comes out the less likely that Honduras will be hurt.
No good deed goes unpunished...they should have just hung Zelaya from the nearest tree.
