US obesity problem 'intensifies'
BBC ^

Posted on 07/01/2009 4:34:52 PM PDT by traumer

Obesity rates in the US have surged over the last year, a report shows.

The Trust for America's Health (TFAH) and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation found adult obesity rates rose in 23 of the 50 states, but fell in none.

In addition, the percentage of obese and overweight children is at or above 30% in 30 states.

The report warns widespread obesity is fuelling rates of chronic disease, and is responsible for a large, and growing chunk of domestic healthcare costs.

Obesity is linked to a range of health problems, including heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes.

Dr Jeff Levi, TFAH executive director, said: "Our health care costs have grown along with our waist lines.

"The obesity epidemic is a big contributor to the skyrocketing health care costs in the US.

"How are we going to compete with the rest of the world if our economy and workforce are weighed down by bad health?"

The US government has set a target of cutting obesity rates in all 50 states to 15% by next year.

The rest of the world is permittd to smoke.

The government took smoking away in the US.

Then it imported a number of brown and blackskinned people who, by percent, have difficulty with obesity with high carb diets.

We put people on SSRI antidepressents and they often gain weight.

OUr new generation of antipsychotics cause weight gain and diabetes.

Now the government is trying to take away caffine.

What should we expect?

If I kneel down slightly I can just get them on the scales.

Maybe it’s because the skinny people keep dying. Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett can’t be helping this ‘alarming trend’.

You know what it is? (Man, I’m gonna get flamed for this!)

It’s the gubmint. At it again. It’s the USDA - the shill for the ranchers and dairy farmers. Telling us we need to eat so much meat and so much dairy to be healthy.

BS. Too much dairy and too much meat MAKES YOU FAT! Dairy and meat is full of fat. We eat way, way, too much of both. We don’t need much, if any, of either.

Fill your tummies full of veggies, fruits, whole grains, beans, nuts and seeds. You’ll be full, and you’ll get all the nutrients you need and then some. Reduce your intake of dairy and meat and you’re guaranteed to lose weight.

Look at the other primates. Do you see any of ‘em sucking on a cow teat? Adult primates don’t need dairy. Less than 5% of their calories intake is from meat. We should follow suit. If we did, we wouldn’t be fat, or be dying in droves from heart disease and diabetes.

Flame away. Go ahead. Deny the truth.

More than lawyer fees?

It's not even legal for an insurance company to pay for a $30 a month gym membership to combat obesity, but that same insurance company is free to pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars a month for medication to treat the symptoms of obesity.

How did those cows get so much unhealthy fat in them in the first place if all they eat is grass?

PS Here’s another little know fact. Drop dairy from your diet and your acne will clear up.

Think I’m full of it? Try it.

Hahahahah....that’s funny. Personally, I think the Government wants most of us to be obese. They want a nationa of passive, compliant couch potatoes who will watch TV, and consume while they wait for their Government checks to arrive. The only time they want us to get up is to go and vote democratic. And for that they will give us all scooters.

They don't eat just grass. They eat specialized corn products, designed to increase their fat content.
