July 2009 sees nearly 6 months since George W Bush entered private life and as we have done in previously monthly threads I have collated photos from the month we are in from previous years.

Tonight I will post July 2001 and July 2002 photos and then over the next few days post 2003 and 2004 photos.

I have also found some photos from this June which I will also post in the next few days starting with one of them as the photo of the month.

It's the Washington Times book called, W. The Legacy of President George Bush.

It's got fantastic photos in it (most of it is comprised of photos). It's got some good articles by Laura, and a few others. Very nice.

Disclaimer.....I just read through the text, and it follows the dopey media line that Katrina was a mess up for President Bush. (That makes me SO angry, knowing how much he did and how SOON he did it!).

Anyway, other than the Katrina part, it's just a wonderful resource.

My feeling about the book was less positive than yours. The Katrina stuff really irked me, of course. I also wasn't thrilled that even on the first page of the book there are negative comments about GWB.

I thought the book was disjointed---I would have liked it organized differently.

I thought the article on Laura at the end was very nice. It was odd to me that the book ended after that (except for the newspapers). There was no further word about GWB, no summation.

I was surprised at the photos in it that I hadn't seen before. We have probably looked at more photos of GWB than most Americans and they were still able to get some in that we hadn't seen---that was neat! Overall I was disappointed, but maybe my expectations were too high.

I understand, dmd25. The Katrina stuff was filth, IMO. Maybe in their attempt to be "balanced" they just decided to lie a little bit?? Anyway, it irked me too.

HOWEVER........the photos made it all worth the price for me. I really do need to try to scan one or two and get them posted. I wonder where they've been hiding all these years. As you say, we, of all people, are THE experts on these two.

I’ve only looked through the photos, reading some of the captions. Thanks for the disclaimer about the text.

Now Eric Draper’s book will be that much better. We know he won’t attempt to make it “balanced.”

The article that Margaret Spellings wrote was very nice, I thought.

I think it is a good plan to savor the photos and be wary of the text. :)
