The president gave no new details about how he would advance these issues, but he made passionate remarks saluting the pioneers of the gay-rights movement and expressed solidarity with those working for equal rights.
"Welcome to your White House," the president said at a reception Monday to mark the 40th anniversary of the birth of the modern gay-rights movement. His remarks were greeted warmly by a cheering crowd of some 250 gay and lesbian activists and supporters.
As a presidential candidate, Mr. Obama vowed to overturn the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy, which prohibits openly gay men and women from serving, and to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, which allows states to ignore same-sex marriages performed in other states and bars the federal government from granting marriage benefits to people in same-sex unions.
The Obama administration has said it will take congressional action to address both issues. But, aware of both the complex politics involved and its full agenda, the White House has done little so far to prod lawmakers along.

Oshama's Justice Dept has defended the DOMA act. He's just talking out of 2 sides of his face as usual.
And, by so doing, he is essentially jeopardizing the lives of hundreds in the GLBT community now safely hidden in the closets aboard USAF air bases, Navy ships, Army posts and Marine barracks, plus causing a mass exodus of fine hetrosexual men and women no in uniform to leave their service! Don’t ask, don’t tell is working and there is no reason to try to fix it.

What a nightmare - and its just been 6-months...
I agree it is working as did many gay and lesbians live their life out quietly alongside heterosexuals for a long time. It was always the radicals that had the problems. The same radicals who refuse to criticize the tactic approval given to child porn, child manga, fantasies about young boys and such. A buddy of mine from the Vietnam era related a story where he stumbled on a the rape of a private by his superior officer something which he reported. Also my wife’s step father reported a case in the navy where a guy tried to rape him, he turned a high pressure hose on the guy to save himself since the guy was bigger than he. This is not to say every gay man is a predator but this fantasy world piece of crap idea the media feeds us about the homosexual lifestyle is not only dangerously wrong but it is hurting not only the victims but homosexuals who are in far greater risk of disease when living as open homosexuals.
What is being attempted is the forced normalization of what is instinctively and objectively wrong.
Let me know when he comes out of the closet.

925. ART. 125. SODOMY
(a) Any person subject to this chapter who engages in unnatural carnal copulation with another person of the same or opposite sex or with an animal is guilty of sodomy. Penetration , however slight, is sufficient to complete the offense.
(b) Any person found guilty of sodomy shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.
