Federal agents hunt for guns, one house at a time

~ EXCERPT ~

In front of a run-down shack in north Houston, federal agents step from a government sedan into 102-degree heat and face a critical question: How can the woman living here buy four high-end handguns in one day?

The house is worth $35,000. A screen dangles by a wall-unit air conditioner. Porch swing slats are smashed, the smattering of grass is flattened by cars and burned yellow by sun.

Among other things, the agents are combing neighborhoods and asking people about suspicious purchases as well as seeking explanations as to how their guns ended up used in murders, kidnappings and other crimes in Mexico.

“Ever turning up the heat on cartels, our law enforcement and military partners in the government of Mexico have been working more closely with the ATF by sharing information and intelligence,” Melson said Tuesday during a firearms-trafficking summit in New Mexico.

Federal agents hunt for guns, one house at a time

I guess that's easier than looking for criminals.

Maybe the second sentence answers the question asked by the first.

Nice pick reverend!!

It turned out two handguns, of a type drug gangsters prefer, were bought by a pastor for target practice.

I always wondered if the rumors I'd heard about multiple gun purchases in day were a red flag was true. Guess I now have my answer.

“An angry ex-girlfriend or wife is the best person in the world, the greatest source of information,” Sloan said.

Unless, of course, you are looking for truth and facts.

The lamest so far came from a police officer: He said he bought a few military-style rifles, left them in his car and — on the same night — forgot to lock a door. He couldn’t explain why he didn’t file a police report or why he visited Mexico the day after the alleged theft.

No need to investigate this further. We can trust him.

So it begins. For the good of the citizens, they will explain. Today this woman, tomorrow you. But remember it’s for the good of the nation. It will make us all safer.

If a Fed came to my door to check on whatever weapons may be in the house, they better have a warrant and damn good cause.

That’s a good way to start CW2.

Well, if he’s in law enforcement, he’s an agent of the ever-benevolent government, so is above suspicion.

That’s a line in the sand they will attempt to NOT cross until they think they can get away with it - after all their other draconian authoritarian policies are in place.

Fortunately, the states are starting to stand up on their hind legs and bray.

I guess that's easier than looking for criminals.

They are looking for criminals!

Clearly, the alternative, assumed collective guilt of all gun purchasers is the worst alternative possible.

The irony is that some people are aghast at the "collective guilt" concept when applied to those who are clearly terrorists, but embrace it when applied to fellow citizens exercising their Constitutional rights.

In both instances, lives are at state. In one of them, however, it is a lot more than just lives.

“Fortunately, the states are starting to stand up on their hind legs and bray.”

And here in Tucson, guns and ammo sales are up a mean avg. of 350% since last year.

By the time they come your door or mine, they won't be so "polite."

Now is the time to form a strong "neighborhood watch" so you don't face a platoon alone.

If you live in a boot-licking, leftard community, now might be the time to move.

Those guns and ammo are best used in protecting your state from federal agents who will attempt to enforce laws that your state refuses to.

That’s how this will come down.

Could somebody please explain what happened to the legal concept ‘probable cause’?

How does the merely exercising of one’s Constitutional right of self-defense warrant harassment by federal agents?

Obama has already proven that he is no better than a Marxist dictator, and they don’t cotton to an armed citizenry ;-)

i love these inflammatory headlines. needless to say, they are looking for guns bought for purely illegal purposes. these people give legit gunowners a bad name yet most around here give these criminals a total pass.

some of you people need to wake up. these people are the reasons liberals are able to demonize guns!
