McCain staffers push back on Vanity Fair's Palin profile

Two McCain staffers, however, were immediately willing to go on the record with the Washington Times in their support for Mrs. Palin after the Vanity Fair piece was published online.

Jason Recher, who worked closely with Mrs. Palin as a vice presidential candidate, said “The mean tone of this article is completely false, this is not the Sarah Palin I knew and spent two and a half months with." He also said he was tired of reporters using information about Mrs. Palin from people unwilling to go on the record.

Mr. Recher said he was never approached for the article although he was one of a handful of people who spent “every morning, day and night” with Mrs. Palin in the heat of the campaign and is openly supportive of her today.

David Welch, deputy research director for the McCain-Palin ticket, said he was “shocked to read the Vanity Fair article about Governor Palin and the allegations made against her by former staffers” and complained “significant parts of the story are based on half truths and gossip from staffers who refused to go on the record.”

I am convinced that people in the McCain camp, namely Steve Schmidt, intentionally threw the election, especially in the last months when McCain had gained significant ground on Obama.

In Ohio, I heard Obama commercial after Obama commercial and almost never heard any response from McCain's camp. It was pathetic.

Schmidt is an unabashed lover of homosexuals. Why would he help a guy who would have continued to support Don't Ask/Don't Tell? Simple, he wouldn't have and he didn't.

McCain is a loser, he surrounded himself with losers. They were in disarray from day one. He thought the Bamster was an honorable man. He never asked him where’s the birth certificate. He never exposed the foreign money. His campaign was a complete waste of contributors money. His debate performances were pathetic. A total narcissist like the Bamster is the easiest of people to provoke into a meltdown. Where were his psychops people.

Palin was the only bright spot. She flubbed a couple of interviews but she absoluted killed Biden in the debate and got him to make 2-3 major mistatements like about Lebanon and Hamas. She took the guy apart. To say her performance was okay is a lie.

She needed more prep and needed to be able to match the presses hostility. When McLames handlers were trying to stifle her and redefine her, that’s when she was at her worst. Once she decided to let them go, she soared.

The proof was how many campaign appearances Mclame did with her. When she wasn’t there, neither were the crowds.

Anonymous statements like this must always be questioned. They fear her party appeal and do not want her to be around in 2012.

And what’s wrong with getting the oil cos to increase their royalties to the state when the original contract was made when oil prices were 10-20 bucks per barrel and now they are 70-147? Shouldn’t the state get a bigger share. And she also forced them to build the pipeline to ship ng to the lower 48. Something no governor had been able to do for 40 years.

Vanity Fair has been a disgusting haters' leftwing piece of tripe since it was led by, first, the shrill British shrike Tina Brown, and next the Canadian-living-in-Manhattan Graydon Carter, who has been editor throughout the Bush administration until now. He could not say enough wonderful things about Valerie Plame and terrible things about Bush, the Republicans, the war effort, yadda yadda yadda.

Carter fancies himself a libertarian, but evidence rather suggests he is a fatuous, self-adoring old yuppie metrosnob.
