June 29, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin announced today she does not support a controversial piece of federal climate change legislation that is making its way through Congress. The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 is authored by U.S. Representatives Henry Waxman and Ed Markey.
Governor Palin is concerned about the economic and environmental impacts the legislation could have on Alaska. This bill does not offer enough flexibility to states to meet national standards and goals, Governor Palin said. Flexibility is particularly important for Alaska. Our cold climate and rural populations make it difficult for Alaskans to implement technologies that work elsewhere. Again, this is a case of one size doesnt fit all.
Multiple state agencies are continuing to review the version of the legislation that passed the U.S. House. Previous versions of the bill presented problems in nearly every facet of industry, commerce, and everyday life for Alaskans. State agencies found inadequacies in the areas of mitigation, allocations, infrastructure, and adaptation.
The governor also noted some of the broad policy statements in the bill will likely lead to stricter regulations that don't necessarily solve any problems.
Governor Palin intends to work with Alaska's congressional delegation to address the state's concerns.

This is not new. Anyone who has followed Governor Palin knows that she has never bought into the man-made global warming scam. The only people who say otherwise are Mitt Romneys butt boys who are trying to discredit her in the media. People such as Kevin Madden, John Feehery, Rob Gray, Mike Murphy, Matt Braynard, Nicole Wallace, and their ilk. They know that she will not hire tham if she wins the nomination. Their attacks on her are simple economic self-preservation. If she gets the nomination, which she will if she runs, they will be out in the cold, as they should be.
I expected no less
Loss of Federal funds.
True but they can also turn around and stop collecting/forwarding taxes to the Feds. You’d be surprised at, not just the amount but the ^types^, of tax money states collect and send to the feds.
I believe the States have the ultimate power according to the framers. This country was to be ruled by the people, for the people.
I am sure someone knows more on this than I.
Palin Ping
You can only call POS liberal legislation, POS liberal legislation for so long. But that type of knee-jerk opposition we can expect from Democrats. If Republicans don't explain the consequences of liberal POS legislation and offer contrasting alternatives, then how are they going to regain power?
Beautiful job, and beautiful running pics, by Palin.
