"The streets of Tegucigalpa were empty Monday night because of a curfew, but the city is awash in rumors that Venezuela is marshaling its forces for a possible invasion. Micheletti was meeting with Honduran congressional leaders and others at his house, as soldiers stood guard outside.

Actually!! I'd say this presents a GREAT OPPORTUNITY if Chavez carries through with his threat.

You INVADE Honduras, and Honduras will get all of the freedom-loving Cubans and Cuban-Americans to fight the Venezuelan army, and proceed to FINALLY engage in invasion plans of their own from Honduras to liberate VENEZUELA and CUBA of their despotic tyrants!

I very recently watched the movie 2010 on T.V. I find it interesting that in the movie there were tensions between the U.S. and Russia from a conflict in S. America. Life/Art/ Art/Life?

Interesting that the “Bolivarian Armada of Venezuela” (that’s what they call their Navy) has 7,800 Marines organized into 2 brigades, plus 4 LST-type landing craft.

Media outlets friendly to Zelaya have been shut down, and some reporters are hiding -- as are members of Zelaya's former cabinet. Most Hondurans must rely on state media or on newspapers and television stations that support the coup legal deposition from office.

Coups don't make Vice Presidents, President.

I do not pretend to know anything about the internal Honduran issues, but judging from whom has been sounding off on this, my gut feeling is that Micheletti may be a true patriot.

I would love to hear John Boenher threatening Obama, Clinton, Pelosi, Reed, et.al. with arrest if they dared to step foot back into this country.

If Venezuelan troops invade Honduras, they will likely use Nicaragua as the staging area. I wonder if Honduras would be able to hold off Venezuela and Nicaragua? Who would help them at this point?

We may be seeing the beginning of a Marxist South American empire controlled from Venezuela. Hope and Change is great, isn’t it?!

I wonder if we as Americans will have the courage to stand up and be counted when our constitution is over turned by our elected leaders.

Or if the rest of the world will cheer and allow our freedoms to just be taken away.

“IF” the military and the new president is correct in their story then our leaders are on the wrong side. (Big Suprise)

The best thing the "appointed" president could do is announce a election day.

Prove democracy will be the rule

As for the U.S. obama will continue to embarras us.

Well, if that were to happen, you can count on obama backing the invaders, and refusing to help Hondurous. obama has already made his bed with the dictators.

The answer is no.

Our constitution has already been overturned numerous times in the last 6 months.

Nary a word.

But Honduran leaders insist that the world does not understand what happened here.

0bama knows exactly what has happened there. His administration has been working for weeks to keep Zelaya in power. He is the biggest Marxist Pig of all and you had better brace yourselves down there in Honduras as he continues to work behind the scenes with the power of the United States to overthrow your Constitutional Republic.

Micheletti was their equivalent of the Vice President, so he took office in the normal form of succession and was approved by both parties in their Parliament. Zelaya was the one who wanted to change the election date by staging this unconstitutional “referendum.”

Micheletti has already said that Honduran elections will go forward on their normal date, and the new president, whoever he is, will assume office in January of next year, as is mandated in their Constitution.

Even if Zelaya comes back, he can’t run, because anyone who has been removed from office, particularly for trying to overthrow the democratic structure, is forbidden by the Honduran constitution for holding elected office for 10 years.
