I don’t think the media are giving it a pass - I think it just doesn’t grab as much view share as Michael Jackson etc. When profits alone are the driving force of your news media one shouldn’t expect principled journalism.

Not defending homosexuality here, but pedophilia is a different and heinous problem. Pedophiles are not attracted to adults of any sex. So I suppose you could have a category called homosexual pedophile. Unlike homosexual sex, pedophilia is by definition not consensual. Pedophilia is with pre-pubescent children. Saying that more pedophiles are attracted to boys than girls does not make it the same as homosexuals who are attracted to adults.
The technical term for adults attracted to post-pubescent children is pederasty. That is a clear homosexual problem. And in fact there are homosexual rights groups that actively advocate and support pederasty.
