WASHINGTON (AP) Two Republican senators asked Monday for a congressional hearing to look at whether President Barack Obama acted appropriately when he fired the national service agency's inspector general earlier this month.
Sens. Mike Enzi of Wyoming and Orrin Hatch of Utah said they were concerned about "significant questions raised regarding the propriety of the decision to remove the IG."
Obama fired Gerald Walpin, the inspector general who investigates AmeriCorps and other programs that are part of the Corporation for National Community Service, saying he had lost confidence in him. The firing followed an investigation by Walpin finding misuse of federal grants by a nonprofit education group led by Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, who is an Obama supporter and former professional basketball star.

Inquiry continues into Walpin firing

Senator Chuck Grassley says President Obama has yet to provide Congress with a satisfactory explanation for why he fired Gerald Walpin from his position as Inspector General at the Corporation for National and Community Service.
Some critics of the Walpin firing believe the inspector general was fired simply because he investigated Obama ally and Democratic Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson for using AmeriCorps grant money illegally. However, in a letter to the Senate committee that oversees AmeriCorps, the White House claims Walpin was fired because he was "confused and disoriented," engaged in "inappropriate conduct," and had become "unduly disruptive to agency operations."
Players need to take some action so that it makes enough news that the MSM cannot ignore it.
CBS Frames New Haven as 'Conservative' Justices vs 'Civil Rights Leaders'
The bias is OUT OF CONTROL!
No kiddin! Time for the PJ crew to make another example of one of them like we did Rather.
Hey, Obama is worlds ahead of Watergate with Walpingate and Certifigate. Hopefully, he’ll be removed from office by fall.
Im wondering why drudge won’t headline WalpinGate at all?
Have no idea. Unless it’s his ego and he wants to be the one to “break” the story.
He will headline it when Obama makes a move on it. But 0bama has his plate full. He is a HORRIBLE TOTUS but the MSM have not broke the story YET!
They can pass colossal, catastrophic loot-and-spend bills, hundreds of pages long, overnight.
A hearing on the firing of an IG...that takes months, maybe years. Maybe never!
Destructive oligarchy traitors watch out for one another big time.
May they fall in the pit they have dug and that speedily.
The same Dems who hounded the Bush Admin over the firing of the small number of attornies (but missed noticing Clinton’s firing of huge numbers of attornies), will of course be outraged over Dear Leader’s firing of the guy.
Right?
Right?
(sound of deafening silence)
That’s a fact. The MSM ignore almost everything the Republicans are doing right now. They have to go back to their home state like Jim Inhofe did to get publicity and then it is picked up by the blogs and finally the AP at the OK Capitol will put it on the wire.
Impeach NOW
They can’t refuse a hearing now can they?
one would hope not, but he’s not a republican
Good.
They asked Kennedy for the hearing. Wonder what the odds are that that’s going to happen.
Yes, the chairman of the appropriate committee is responsible to schedule hearings, if he chooses not to, the minority has no recourse.
Although, if Enzi and Hatch are denied, they should do what the Dems did when they were in the minority, hold a (non-official) hearing somewhere in the Capitol, in a hotel ballroom if they have to, use a table to indicate the missing Dems with namecards, invite the media, we know Fox would show up at the very least, investigate the matter. They would not have the power of subpoena, but then they wouldn't have it if the Dem chairman allows a true hearing anyway.
But they should at least make the attempt to get the facts of the matter out into the public purview.
Is this the same Sen. Hutch who voted _for_ the massive power grabbing climate control bill? I'd be afraid to ask whether they'll permit (sit out) the battle to prevent the outlaw, Sotomayor confirmation. How’d they vote on TARP and providing taxpayer money (no less) to militant socialist ACORN? The strength of conviction and righteous has been lost in space.
