Remember the good old days—when dissent was patriotic? Fuggedaboutit. Dissent isn't merely unpatriotic now. It's downright treasonous. Just ask Paul Krugman.
If, like virtually all House Republicans and a handful of Dems, you don't agree with the likes of Henry Waxman on the need to take radical measures on the climate, you're guilty of . . . "a form of treason." Treason against the planet, to be precise.
That was Krugman's formulation in his New York Times column of today, Betraying The Planet.
Krugman has obviously drunk deep from the carafe of Al Gore Kool-Aid, writing:

Thanks! You understand a lot more than the ‘conservative’ talk show hosts who are harping on the job losses. While those are important, the most important thing about this bill is that it cedes sovereignty to the UN. That is what people should be shouting from the streets, and it should make people take a second look at Honduras, they seem to know exactly what to do with a president who disdains their constitution.

And because they seek power for it’s own end and not the greater good, they must exterminate the independent and prosperous middle class. It happens everywhere the marxists take power.
People say marxism has failed everywhere it’s been tried. I disagree. I think that by it’s own yardstick of being a means of cementing absolute political and economic control over a population by enslavement and impoverishment, it’s always been wildly successful.

And the scary thing, if you go to the NYT page and read the comments, EVERYONE agrees with him! (This is the NYT, I know). But when you live in a conservative area where EVERYONE knows this stuff if a bunch of made up nonsense, it is mind boggling that people up there actually believe in it (like a religion) and agree with this guy! We can convince ourselves its just the loony politicians who want to use this for their communist agenda,but it is troubling to realize there are that many people who actually believe that anyone who opposes cap & trade is treasonous! That is why the topic of secession is becoming so popular. The people in this country are coming from such opposing worldviews that its like the other side is from a different planet, I don’t see how we can ever live peacably together again!

Krugman would have fit in well during the early years of the Soviet Union when western leftists journeyed there and often times returned singing the praises of socialism and Stalin.
